A Notary is a public official trusted by a state government to witness signatures and verify that transactions occurred or that something documented actually happened. Notaries can assist with verifying documents such as Estate Planning, Apostille, I-9 Verifications, and Mortgage closings to name a few. Generally, a Notary's role is to help combat Fraud or Identity Theft that could arise during such transactions and to give all those involved the assurance that the documents have been executed properly.
In this episode we discuss the different situations in which someone would require a Notary, what questions to ask a Notary in regard to their services and pricing, and how to navigate complicated situations where a Power of Attorney may be involved.
