This Episode of The Senior Podcast Show focuses on life enrichment in those with memory impairments. We will be joined by special guest Sara Kenyon, Executive Director of American House Senior Living, Westland Venoy and Certified Dementia Practitioner.
You may be wondering what is life enrichment and why is it important? Life enrichment, from a Senior Living Community standpoint, refers to the various activities, programs, and social events offered throughout the community! These programs focus on physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of the residents and help to keep them engaged with their environment and community as a whole. Life enrichment programs, for those affected by Dementia, play a crucial role in keeping the residents cognitively stimulated. Seniors with Dementia often times still enjoy the hobbies they had previously, but they may not be able to do them as well as before.
