The closing chapter of the Twilight saga pits the Cullens against the Volturi, and it’s actually a passable film. It does, however, feature what is perhaps the most pathetic, cowardly twist-ending of all time.

Is this the most boring movie of all time? Impossible to say for sure, but it’s definitely a contender. Thank God we only have one more after this.

It’s the boss’s birthday! Well, it was three weeks ago… But we’re celebrating this week with his stand-alone selection, Interstellar. Matthew McConaughey (yes, we had to Google that spelling) stars in the ultimate time-twisting, mind-bending dystopian blockbuster, directed by the master himself, Christopher Nolan.

Fifth movies in franchises are rarely any good, and this insipid excuse of a Pirates film is no exception. All the magic from the original trilogy has completely disappeared, resulting in a lifeless, flaccid flop that should be left at the bottom of the ocean and never spoken of again.

2011’s On Stranger Tides was a misstep in many ways, the worst of which being that it tried to continue a story that didn’t need continuing. Seriously, why make a follow up to what was arguably a perfect trilogy?

The third entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise goes bigger than ever, pitting Sparrow and friends against Lord Cutler Beckett and the full might of the East India Trading Company, hell bent on extinguishing Pirates from the seas for good. This film is ambitious, entertaining and extremely well-made, resulting in a threequel that nearly rivals the original.

Despite being well-written, funny and nearly as good as its predecessor, the second entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean series never quite reaches the lofty standards set by The Curse of the Black Pearl. This doesn’t matter in the long run however, as the sinister villainy of Davy Jones combined with the chemistry of the returning cast members and the talented writing team all make for a solid sequel in more ways than one.
