The first of George Lucas’ prequels disappointed fans of the franchise when it was first released, but it has since gained a cult following among those of us who were first exposed to Star Wars through Jar Jar Binks, Qui Gon Jinn, Darth Maul and an adolescent Obi Wan Kenobi. In short: we love it, our parents don’t 🤷‍♂️

We go back to where it all ended (for the first time) this week with Return of the Jedi! The film that closed off the original Star Wars trilogy certainly isn’t perfect and it doesn’t live up to the standards set by its predecessors, but nevertheless it’s still a fun time that draws the story to a close.

Arguably the best sequel of all time, The Empire Strikes Back builds on George Lucas’ vision of a plucky rebellion pushing back against an evil empire. This movie was the basis for an impressively deep extended universe, and gave audiences one of the most well known lines of all time. What more could you want?

It also created the most well-known villain of all time in Darth Vader, and gave the world the most sought-after weapon in history: the lightsaber. This movie has it all.

Fact: every franchise can be improved by adding a movie set in the old west - this franchise is no exception.
