When 20th Century Fox announced that Ridley Scott would be directing a prequel to Alien, we got VERY excited! Unfortunately, he ended up delivering a slow, convoluted mess that didn’t really relate to the original Alien movie at all.

Join us as we chat about the fourth entry in the Alien franchise, Alien Resurrection! The fourth movie of a franchise is rarely anything to write home about, but you might want to break out the letterhead… Because this one’s a lot of fun.

It wouldn’t have been easy to make the third Alien movie after the two masterpieces that came before, but the disjointed mess that was Alien³ was a disappointment to… well, literally everyone. And why would they kill a fucking dog??

Widely considered to be one of the best sequels of all time, Aliens is a wild sci-fi/action romp that is almost as timeless as its predecessor. Is it a better film? Probably not. Is it still excellent? Absolutely.

Is this the greatest movie of all time? Maybe. Either way, it’s a masterful example of suspenseful horror, and one of the few old horror movies that still holds up in the modern era.

And now, the episode you’ve all been waiting for: the one where three straight, white men talk about a female reboot of an all-male franchise! But seriously if we messed up please let us know - we’d like to improve.

The third movie in Soderbergh’s Ocean’s trilogy was considered a step up from the second one, largely due to its simpler plot and superior script. It’s definitely pretty good, provided you can ignore the strange overexposure and irritating metallic hum sprinkled throughout.

In a movie that Entertainment Weekly labelled “one of the worst sequels of all time”, the all-star cast is what manages to ensure this convoluted mess of a film isn’t confined to history as a pathetic failure… it’s still pretty shit, though.

The seminal heist movie of the modern era, Ocean’s Eleven is still the movie that comes to mind when you think “heist movies”. It’s a top-tier film compared to the original, although it doesn’t hit the mark in terms of representation. Do women rob casinos? We guess we’ll never know 🤷‍♂️

Who knew this movie existed? Not us, until we googled the George Clooney version. Racism, misogyny, homophobia; how many problematic boxes can this movie tick in two hours? The answer: many. Despite this, it’s actually still pretty good when you consider it’s 62 years old!
