What is death and what is hades and why is understanding that important?

In Revelation1:18, Jesus says that he holds the keys of death and Hades. What does that mean? This week, we looks at why Jesus had to die as a human and the significance for all people. Verses like these unite scripture together from the first command of God to his coming, so although it may seem like a basic idea of scripture, it is foundational and adds confidence for the believer.

How do I find what I am meant to give? How do I find my gift?

We know God has called each of us for a unique calling, but how do I find my specific calling? Is there such a thing and if so, how do I find it? Mark Twain said the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you figure out why.

How do we begin the process of giving? One of the aspects of our church that we want to hold onto is the heart to give. We want to give of ourselves, rather than always wanting to receive. How does an individual begin that process?

The world has a way of bearing fruit and changing, but Jesus does as well. We look at John 15 to consider what Jesus suggests.

What is the best thing a believer can give the world? Obviously the Sunday School student inside of us wants to answer Jesus, which is great. But what does that mean? In answering this question, our hope is that every believer offers whatever is best to this world.

For this question this week, we looked at Psalms 19:1-4 and consider how nature glorifies God. By doing what God created it to do, it glorifies God. We consider that as we answer the question.

What should I look for in a church?

At a time when there are churches on every street corner, with every style, and every whim met, what should a believer look for? This is an important question for our overall Christian health as those around us can impact us greatly.

As the new year begins, many people set out with new year's goals. I want to encourage you that as much as you focus on the "what" of your goal, consider the "why." When things get hard, the why gives you the strength to continue. 

As a church and as believers, it is important that we look more and more like Jesus. Why does that matter? The more you can articulate that, the more you will have strength to live it out. We looked at Ephesians 4 and John 10 to give us some guidance today.

We are considering the question “how does an individual begin to change?” Change is central to Christian life. Yet so few find change in their lifetime. Last week we considered why we don’t see change and this week we consider how someone begins the journey. 

We look at the disciples in Luke 5:1-11 and see how they changed their lives completely. What was their process of change and what can we learn from them?
