After Matt and Alex give us a sneak preview of our July live event in Minneapolis, Suzanne talks to Shea. Shea never thought she would own a practice. Since owning one for six years, she now pointedly reflects on the several times she's trusted her instincts; one that pushed her to actually buying, one that helped her delegate to her husband. Now she's coming back with a new focus to reach $1.2MM in production this year. Have these gut feelings failed her, or is she making all the right decisions?
Today we slow down, zoom out, and get a holistic view of modern dentistry. Payton is solo today; comprehensively guiding us through what students can expect and why we're going where we're going.
As Richard deepens his practice ownership experience, his father and mentor Murray Low--longtime coach to executives around the world--joins him to discuss keeping team members and maintaining culture at scale.

Matt and Alex introduce us to our 100th episode of Practice Under Water. When Suzanne gets into Patrick's metrics. He has two options: ignore his own success and risk hemorrhaging his amazing new patient flow, or: help secure the future of his new patient flow by hiring a hygienist ASAP, open his additional two operatories, and getting an associate to cover a different day. Is Patrick have the same great problems in six months?
After noticing a consistent uptick in student listeners year over year, George, Payton, and Steven make this special--shareable--episode. We revisits podfather Richard's original hypothesis of the show: the best way to pay back your debt is to get into practice ownership. We talk empowering yourself, taking control of your career, and giving yourself the best dentist lifestyle you can.
Having last been on the show on April 26th (episode 37), David Cohen returns and shares why seemingly good partnerships sometimes crash and burn, how to filter personality types before going into a partnership, and why being willing to walk away from a deal is a super power. Patrick's startup isn't even a year old and he's been killing it. With over a thousand active patients and 130--yes 130--new patients per month, why exactly is this practice "underwater"? Because we don't know exactly where his success is coming from. Suzanne needs Patrick to convince his team to track where every new patient is coming from. This growth won't last forever, but while it does, the more we measure the more we understand.
Payton catches up with Alex' practice situation over in Arkansas. Also, they clarify each offering of Shared Practices and who they are (and aren't) a good fit for. But first, Alex talks about attracting talent during this insane time of low-staffing, endless government "benefits", and shallow hiring pools nationwide.
