I suppose the most important thing we learn in this episode with James Bewley (Dale Radio, Strindberg and Helium) in the guest star chair IS that there are no rules when it comes to Oreos. Besides this discovery, James and Sharon discuss going decaf, the scariness that was the Lyceum, the pleasure and the pain of living in LA, and hair puns. BARBERISM runs rampant!
It's an episode dedicated almost completely to all things Floppy (if you know, you know) this time as Sue Smith (Best Week Ever, Tits & Giggles) slides into the guest star chair. However, when NOT on a Floppy kick, Sue and Sharon discuss the Woman of Many Questions, tipping, being alone to recharge, and hating people at work.
It's a hard lesson in keeping your phone on vibrate that heads off this episode featuring Lou Gonzalez (Boombox, The Mannequin Room) in the guest chair. Lou leads off by discussing his time in news production and as owner of his own production company. He and Sharon equate clown noses to comedy, before discovering that words is too much. And we finish with a discussion of sex without glasses. Just pay me.
Sharon and guest star Alex Edelman (Millennial, Edinburgh Fringe) are 'bout to throw a lot at you this week. Are you ready? Alex talks about being raised Orthodox, Sharon admits to being a lifeless robot, Alex discusses Nordic comics that he knows AND about the time he worked PR for baseball. This is all in addition to discussion of small talk bombs, crock pot cooking, oiling yourself, and having aesthetic match content. I'm exhausted.
Greetings! And welcome to a very special episode. Contained herein are twenty-some minutes of the fun we had at the recent Sharon Spell Show Live performance at the UCB Theater East! Sharon welcomes everyone by chatting about the very New York week she's been having. Then guest star Frank Conniff (MST3K, Cinematic Titanic) joins her to discuss finally accepting sobriety, whoring oneself out at ComicCon, and the special view that Frank has from his apartment. We certainly hope you can join us for the next live taping, and invite you to stay tuned for details!
Sharon and guest star David Joseph Craig (What to Expect) get right into it this episode with discussion on the multiple drunk cab rides we've all experienced. This segues seemlessly into Sharon revealing her Incognito Persona....Tina. The two then discuss quitting coffee, or NOT quitting coffee, and the South American Water Diet. And they finish with their experiences in pushing those negative thoughts aside so you can get your damn work done.
This episode finds Jo Firestone (Friends of Single People) in the guest star chair and helping Sharon out with her lists...all of them. The two also discuss recent celebrity sightings, Instragram awards, both wet AND dry desserts, AND what it's like to make out with someone in a celebrity's home while you are housesitting for them. Answer -- it's pretty good.
Naomi Ekperigin (Everyday SCANDAL, Totally Biased) is at home in the guest star chair this week, and starts off by asking Sharon about that crazy guy in the leather strip shirt. The two then discuss Naomi's time working as a bartender in (the "island continent" of) Australia...and the interesting locals to be found there. A discussion of redheads follows, before they weigh the risks of making bad art and compare/contrast elevator people with stairs people.
Look. Don't get too hangry, 'cause this week Sheng Wang (Totally Biased, Late Night) is in the guest star chair to discuss the pros of NOT decorating your apartment with Sharon. We also learn about when Sheng was elected Historian of his high school China Club, as well as his unreleased comedy album. Sheng and Sharon discover a mutual love of hot things, and we finish up by finding out just what "dippin' dirty" really is.
And with that certain sun-kissed glow, we welcome you back to a new batch of Sharon Spell Show podcasts! Today Sharon welcomes Ophira Eisenberg (Ask Me Another, The Moth) to the guest star chair. The two discuss the unique pleasures of producing live shows and then realize that it's okay to let go of URLs. Then it's all about performances, including whether or not you should "glitz it up" for a show...what it was like to open for a magician act...and the best way to run away from a gig.
