Thanksgiving. A time of nostalgia, reflection, and stuffing. Sher and Nance give a peek into their Thanksgiving meals, family traditions, and stories from days gone by. They also share hostess challenges, some near-fatal disasters, and rituals they will cherish forever. From cheeseballs to cordial cups, this holiday is a favorite for both Sheri and Nancy.
They also reflect on the difference between gratitude and appreciation. One is tinged with the shadow of scarcity while the other is the door to abundance. Listen in and see if you agree.
Takeaways:
● Even from a young age, Chef Nancy found great fun in being responsible for the Thanksgiving feast, a meal so important and steeped in tradition.
● Sheri still relishes the big fancy tables and appetizer offerings from her Thanksgiving meals.
● Nancy's family is open to having Thanksgiving in different locations, but it must always include their signature components: dumplings, sauerkraut (from her Czech heritage) and two pies — pumpkin and apple.
● Sheri's present-day Thanksgiving is a carb overload. Since she doesn't eat meat, it's become a menu of sides. She needs a strategy!
● As much as Sher and Nance love the Pillar Life Lentil Loaf, they think it is NOT a good substitute for a Thanksgiving main dish.
● Does a big, honkin' ball of cheese sound good to you? If so, check one of Sheri's fan favorites: the Cheeseball. (Although these days she subs in imitation bacon bits for real bacon).
● Sheri and Nancy are so thankful for their beloved listeners and wish you and your families the best Thanksgiving ever.

Sex. Love. Romance. Viagra. These have been hot-button topics for Sher and Nance in recent weeks. And now they're calling in the big guns — love and relationship expert (and a total lovebug in his own right) Mark Groves. Mark is a Human Connection Specialist who helps people all over the world nurture deeper relationships with the people they love. He is vulnerable and honest, sharing his own experiences as a man in love. And he helps us all break through old beliefs and routines, shedding light on what he calls our rock bottom moments, our love limits, and how to say "no" to the wrong people, faster.
Mark, Sheri and Nancy discuss the fun and flirty parts of sex and love, but also what we can learn in times of conflict and confrontation. He calls Sher and Nance out on some red flags wavin' in the breeze in both of their Lifescapes; those things they think and say that may be preventing them from finding love. Mark is all about Creating the Love. And we are all ears.
Takeaways:
● This is the first of two episodes taped at the Wanderlust Wellspring Festival in Palm Springs, CA, a health and wellness gathering unlike anything Sher and Nance have seen before.
● As Sheri follows the road down hormone lane, she reveals the results from an extensive blood test. She's discovered that her vessel is as barren as the desert she just spent the weekend in. Oh dear.
● Mark Groves is our beloved guest this week and he is all about helping people connect and grow in their relationships, at whatever stage they may be in.
● Let's all gain insight into our own love limits — those toxic beliefs we buy into about what happens when we truly give ourselves over to love. Do you believe you'll be betrayed, disappointed, dumped? These old stories are blocking you from reaching your soaring potential in love and life.
● When we are open and curious in our relationships, we can get to the rock bottom of who we really are.
● For women, especially in the middle of life, self-worth and happiness are often reliant on making other people feel good, or being of service. The DreamTribe call to action is to tend to your own garden first, work on your own Pillars, and then shine that energy and abundance out to the world.
● Mark says we need to turn conflict into intimacy. "When you get triggered, get curious."

The Pillar Life is all about personal transformation and lasting change. So Sheri and Nancy pulled up a chair with Brooke McAlary, a master manifestor of a completely new way of living. Brooke is a best-selling author, beloved podcaster, and a leader in the movement toward slow living. She helps thousands of people slow the pace, clear the clutter, and reclaim what is truly important to them.
With her new book, Slow: Simple Living for a Frantic World and The Slow Home Podcast, Brooke shares so many amazing insights — like how to commit to saying "yes" and "no" to the right things, why we should all move from multi-tasking to simple-tasking, and how to take a fresh look at the myth of work-life balance.
Pause, and listen, and let it all soak in. Slowly.
Takeaways:
● In Sheri's search for the perfect doctor to talk hormones, she learns she may have some post-traumatic stress still stuck in her body from years of a fast-paced life.
● Purge the screens and ditch the scrolling! Sher and Nance make a commitment to set aside at least an hour in the day to go screen-free and focus on self-care. "Where you put your focus is where the value lies." (A Pillar Life nugget of wisdom.)
● As part of Brooke's recovery from postnatal depression, she had to declutter and simplify her life. What she discovered after attempting to start by organizing a stuffed-to-capacity garage was that real change starts small. So she switched gears and cleaned out her purse instead.
● Brooke and her husband have shed themselves of 20,000 items in one year, and they don't miss a thing.
● When we have our "why" in place, it gives us something to measure our choices against, and a purpose for saying yes or no to opportunities and obligations in life. Nancy's "why" is: rest, sleep, comfort and quiet. She is resolved to say YES to activities that support these, and NO to ones that disrupt them.
● DreamTribe Challenge: Try to eliminate or lessen the use of computers and phones at the dining room table and the bedroom.
● Meditation has taught Brooke to observe her thoughts rather than to immediately react to them.
● The Slow Movement message is "Quality over Quantity" in all areas of life. Whether it's our finances, our online behaviors, or the people we spend time with, the Slow Movement is about intention and harnessing the spread of where our money/attention/energy goes.
