So for today's podcast, I'm delighted to present to you the amazing Rebecca Oxtoby, the author of the amazing book Mum's The Word. I absolutely loved recording this podcast with her. I wanted to have a real honest conversation with Rebecca about toxic positivity. And following on from the last podcast, I wanted to have, a raw chat about how toxic positivity can be dangerous in motherhood and parenting, and where it often affects our self-worth, our inner knowing and how it can block our intuition, leading us to take paths in our lives that we think we 'should' rather than what we want to and how this can all add to the suppression of ourselves, suppressions of what we really want in life and the suppression of our emotions and why that all adds up to the explosive rage that you sometimes experience.
It was really important for me to get another mom's take on this, to explore this in more detail. We got real, we got raw. We laughed all the way through it.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Rebecca is hilariously funny, real, and raw and she wrote her first book in the throws of her journey into motherhood. And I'll read a little bit of the bio of the first book:
Mum's the word, the Ultimate Baby Shower gift for any expectant Mother. This is motherhood laid bare, No filters, no frills, and often no fucking clue. These are the hilarious hidden tales from parenthood that Insta moms have cropped out for years. The leaking nappies, the shit-stained T-shirts, and the truth about those bloody night feeds.
These are the brilliantly funny and honest stories that every mother needs to hear. Exposing the truth about parenthood Mum's the word gives a refreshingly raw and candid insight into the life with a newborn baby uniting mothers against the 'super mum' pretence and acknowledging that we are all just winging it anyway! Rebecca's dry and undeniably funny stories will test any mother's pelvic floor to the limit.
So grab a Tenner lady, latch on and take a seat. Mums the word is rated five stars on Amazon and has phenomenal reviews. It's right up there alongside Sarah Turners, the young Mumsy mum, Sam Avery, the learner parent, and Giovanna Fletcher's. Happy mom, happy baby.

And I'll be real honest, I wish I had this book when I was a brand new mum because I think it would've made everything so much easier to know the real truth.
