Portfolio manager Eileen Dibb examines investment opportunities in Asia-Pacific equities, as well as the impact of trade relations and economic recoveries throughout the region. Eileen notes that China has made a big push in response to climate change over the last decade. Steel production was a major polluter, and the country has focused heavily on improving air quality. China is a big investor in and producer of solar energy and is also focused on improving wind power resources. Eileen’s focus in this area is on hydrogen, and where it fits into renewable energy, as a longer-term play. China and India have populations of billions, so investing in Asia has the potential to benefit from product proliferation: introducing an item to a population this vast can create a huge opportunity.
