The Slowdown episodes

  • 32. What are you practicing?

In this week’s episode, I’m sharing a little about my own unexpected inward journey this summer and what I’ve been noticing as I move through a season of reflection, change, and growth.

We often think of certain seasons as times to slow down and turn inward, but sometimes that process happens when we least expect it. I’ve been spending a lot of time listening, noticing patterns, and getting honest about the ways I want to show up in my life.

This episode explores the question: What are you practicing?

Because every day, through our thoughts, habits, and choices, we’re strengthening something. We’re practicing ways of relating to ourselves, to discomfort, and to the life we’re creating.

I share how returning to weightlifting has become a practice in more than just physical strength. It’s been an opportunity to build self-trust, stay present through discomfort, and remind myself that I can keep showing up, even when motivation isn’t there.

    We’ll explore:

    • Building self-trust through small, consistent choices
    • Moving from feeling like life is happening to us, toward becoming active participants in our lives
    • How our daily practices shape the relationship we have with ourselves
    • Learning to choose what feels true, rather than what feels expected

This week’s somatic practice is a simple circular breath practice designed to soften effort, create space, and remind the body that it doesn’t always have to brace or push.

As we move through seasons of contraction and expansion, we always have the opportunity to pause and ask: What do I want to orient to now? And what practices will benefit me in that?

  • 31. Building Capacity, Not Just Calm

We often hear that we should "regulate our nervous system," but what does that actually mean? And what’s the point?

This week, I’m sharing my recent experience of going to the depths. Of noticing patterns arising with radical self awareness. Of getting more honest with myself about where I am, and what I want. And making choices that reflect how I want to live my life.

Life will always include uncertainty, grief, joy, anger, change, and heartbreak. The goal isn't to avoid these experiences or rush past them, but to build the capacity to stay present with them without becoming overwhelmed.

    Together we'll explore:

    • Why calm isn't the destination.

    • How awareness and nervous system safety work together.

    • What it means to build flexibility instead of chasing constant peace.

    • A beautiful poem by Henry Shukman that captures the depth of being human.

I'll also guide you through a gentle somatic practice to help you build internal anchors—using your breath, the support beneath you, and memories of safety as resources you can return to when life feels overwhelming.

If you've been feeling stretched by the uncertainty of the world lately, I hope this conversation reminds you that you don't need to hold it all together alone.

If you'd like support in building a deeper relationship with yourself, I also share a little about my 1:1 Embodiment Sessions and how we can work together.

  • 30. Reclaiming Attention in the Digital Age

In this episode, I share a recent camping trip that unexpectedly became a deep reminder of how much of my attention is tied to my phone.

With no reception and a dead phone, I started to notice just how automatic my relationship with it had become, and how even its presence can pull me out of what’s right in front of me.

What followed was discomfort, awareness, and a surprising sense of clarity about how scattered our attention can become in daily life.

I also share what I’ve been experimenting with since coming home—small ways of being more intentional with where my attention goes.

This episode is really an inquiry into attention in the digital age, and what it might look like to begin reclaiming it.

I also guide a short somatic practice called Finding Our Focus.

  • 29. Learning to Sit in the Unknown

As we move through the intensity of changing seasons, shifting priorities, and all the transitions life quietly asks of us, this week’s episode is an invitation to reflect on what it means to trust yourself when life feels uncertain.

In this episode, I share some honest reflections on navigating change, learning how to sit in the unknown, and why building a deeper relationship with ourselves may be one of the most important parts of healing and living well.

So much of life teaches us to search outside of ourselves for answers. To override our intuition. To become who we think we need to be. But embodiment asks something different of us. It invites us to slow down enough to listen inward, notice what is present, and begin trusting what feels true for us — even when we don’t have the full picture.

I’m also sharing some exciting news as I begin offering in-person Embodiment Sessions starting this July, along with a simple somatic practice to help you reconnect with your centre when life feels overwhelming.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • The complexity of navigating change and uncertainty

    • Learning how to move forward without needing all the answers

    • Why embodiment is ultimately about building trust with yourself

    • How healing happens when we stop overriding our inner experience

    • My transition into offering in-person 1:1 Embodiment Sessions

    • A guided somatic practice: Sitting in Your Centre

If you’re feeling stretched, uncertain, or disconnected from yourself lately, this episode is a gentle reminder that sometimes the most important thing we can do is return inward.

  • 28. A Year of Becoming

This week marks a special milestone: one year of Embodied Journey!🎉

In this episode, I'm reflecting on the first year of building my business—the lessons, challenges, growth, uncertainty, vulnerability, and trust it has required. We explore what it means to stay with ourselves through different seasons of life, from moments of inspiration and expansion to periods of doubt, contraction, and low energy.

This episode also includes a simple somatic practice: celebrating through movement. An invitation to put on a song you love, let your body respond, and reconnect with your aliveness.

Whether you've been here from the beginning or are just finding your way to this space, thank you for being part of the journey.

  • 27. Days That Feel Off

In this week’s episode, I’m sharing honestly about moving through a period of low energy, functional freeze, and feeling disconnected while still showing up for life and responsibilities. We explore what happens when we stop judging ourselves for these experiences and begin relating to them as information instead.

This conversation touches on nervous system states, self-compassion, and the importance of meeting ourselves where we are—especially during seasons of growth, transition, or inner change.

I also share more about the heart of my work and the whole-person approach that guides Embodied Journey: supporting healing and awareness across mind, body, emotions, nervous system, energy, and soul.

This episode includes a gentle somatic practice to help you connect with what is already supporting you and explore what it feels like to soften into that support.

    Together we explore:

    • Functional freeze and feeling disconnected
    • Naming our experience without shame or self-judgment
    • Nervous system care during growth and expansion
    • Why harder seasons are part of being human
    • A whole-person approach to healing and transformation
    • A grounding somatic practice for safety and support

If you’ve been feeling “off,” low energy, disconnected, or simply in an in-between season, this episode is an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and remember that you don’t have to navigate it alone.

  • 26. Sitting With Discomfort

This week’s episode explores our relationship with discomfort and the ways we move toward busyness, distraction, or disconnection when life feels hard.

Through personal reflection, we explore why slowing down can feel uncomfortable, what begins to surface when we create more space, and how sensations in the body can offer insight into our emotional experience.

This conversation isn’t about forcing ourselves to sit in overwhelm or suffering. It’s about becoming curious enough to stay present with what’s here, rather than automatically moving away from it.

This episode includes a gentle somatic shake practice to help release tension, move energy, and reconnect with the body.

    Together we explore:

    • Why we stay busy and avoid slowing down
    • The body's response to discomfort and uncertainty
    • Physical sensations like heaviness, tightness, tension, and bracing
    • Awareness, authenticity, and emotional honesty
    • Creating space without forcing or overwhelming ourselves
    • A grounding somatic movement practice to support regulation and release

If you’ve been feeling stretched, uncertain, disconnected, or simply curious about what slowing down might reveal, this episode offers a compassionate invitation to pause, notice, and stay a little closer to yourself.

  • 25. Being In the In-Between

This week’s episode explores the feeling of being in-between versions of ourselves. The space where something is shifting, but the next chapter hasn’t fully revealed itself yet.

Through reflections on seasonal change, gardening, nervous system awareness, and personal growth, we explore how the contraction before the expansion can show up in our bodies and lives. The urge to disconnect, the desire to change, the tension between wanting to figure things out and needing to create more space… these experiences are all part of the process.

This episode includes a simple grounding somatic practice to help settle the nervous system and reconnect with the body during seasons of movement and transition.

    Together we explore:

    • Seasonal shifts and internal change
    • Contraction and expansion as part of growth
    • Nervous system cues like tension, bracing, and disconnection
    • The in-between phase of transformation
    • Creating space to hear what’s emerging
    • A gentle grounding practice you can return to anytime

As you move through your week, this episode invites you to make room for stillness, notice what’s underneath the noise, and trust that not everything needs to be figured out all at once.

Take a breath. Let’s slow down together.

  • 24. Listening to your Body

This week’s episode explores the mind-body connection and the many ways the body communicates through sensation. Together, we look at what it means to slow down enough to notice tightness, tension, heaviness, restlessness, numbness, and other sensations that can hold information beneath the surface.

Through reflection and a guided somatic practice, this episode invites you to move away from immediately fixing or analyzing what you feel, and instead practice staying with it—breathing, moving, listening, and becoming curious about what your body might be trying to communicate.

We also explore the importance of discernment, self-trust, and balancing emotional awareness with grounded physical care.

This episode includes a gentle lying-down somatic practice to help you connect with sensation, intuitive movement, and the quieter layers of yourself through the body.

  • 23. Following Your Intuition

This week’s episode explores the quiet ways intuition speaks to us, and how easy it is to miss when we’re moving through life on autopilot. Through a personal story and reflection, we look at how small nudges, like a thought, a song, a feeling, can gently guide us back into connection with ourselves.

When we slow down enough to notice and follow those first impulses, life can begin to feel less like a list of things to manage, and more like something we’re moving with.

This episode includes a simple somatic practice to help you tune into your body, trust the first thing that arises, and begin building a relationship with your intuition in a grounded, accessible way.
