Since we started this podcast, our community has grown so much that we decided to do a fun and encouraging BONUS episode to answer some of the questions we get! 

We really hope that by the end of this episode, you know a little bit about us, but also learn a bit about some of what we do + tons of pieces of advice along the way!

This week, Jen and AJ introduce us to the story of the week: the Rechabites - from Jeremiah 35 and how it compares to Romans 8:12-13!

The Rechabites were nomads, always wandering from place to place. In Jeremiah 35, they were tested by God through Jeremiah when he offered them wine.  


Rechabites are an example to us. They said no to cultural norms. They had to give up land ownership and certain other things in order to obey the commands of their forefathers. And that's what it is for us as life of a believer too. We have to say, yes, I'm going to follow Christ. When we are trusting in Christ, we are living in the spirit, and yet we are given commands, we are given things to do that can only be done by Christ living in us.

As believers, we have something so much more powerful than rules and the law. The law points out what's right and wrong, but what it is not able to do is empower us to live accordingly.

We have something so much more powerful than just the law because we have the spirit of God, which indwells us. He is giving life to our mortal bodies.  

This is a story about obedience and faithfulness. Listen to today’s episode and fill your heart with reminders of the goodness of following God’s Word.  We hope you see the Rechabites as an example to us believers.

When we are dead, we are dried, we're absolutely helpless and hopeless apart from Jesus Christ, He breathes his new life into us and we are actually dwelt by the very spirit of God.

This month we are starting a new series: Romans 8 Revealed in the Old Testament! And today we are talking about snakes! Snakes in Scripture are not portrayed as the best of creatures. So when we look at the whole fact that God chose a serpent in the story we are discussing today is significant.

So tune in and let’s dive into Numbers 21:4-9 and be reminded of the promises from Romans 8 and that God has always provided a way for us to be saved from the condemnation of sin. We just need to believe and cling to Him.

In today’s episode, we're finishing up the Praying the Promises of the Cross series and looking into Jen’s favorite verse.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. - Romans 8:18

If you open up to the beauty of this verse in the Bible, you will be transformed. Your entire perspective on your earthly existence will be changed. 

And this episode will help you with this perspective. We rejoice in our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character. Character produces hope. And hope does not put us to shame because God's love is poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

Today we are focusing on Romans 8:14-16.  

There is so much to unpack from these three verses, but what really stands out to us is the concept of sonship. If we are trusting in Christ, we are all adopted.

Adoption is a biblical concept. Whether you’ve ever adopted before, we can all understand the concept of taking in something or someone who may not have had a home. AJ shares part of her adoption story in this episode and reminds us that, like AJ’s daughters, we are not only daughters, but we are heirs to Christ.  

When you are adopted, you’re an equal. You were actually chosen. God has chosen you! If you are trusting in him, He has pursued you. He knows you better than anybody. He knows your needs before you ask. He has taken you in, at the price of His son’s blood.

Well, we aren’t actual superheroes, BUT we do have enemies. For a believer, there's an enemy in the world that prowls, seeking whom he may devour.

As a child, was there ever a time when you were convinced something was true, only to later find out that it wasn’t? 

Like Santa Claus? Or the Tooth Fairy? Or perhaps, as Jen believed, swallowing gum would cause your insides to stick together?

Besides discussing the common fascination with life and death, Jen and AJ explore perhaps the most beautiful chapter in the Bible – Romans 8.

The idea of life and death is actually one of the most important spiritual themes that have ever been discussed, making it extremely good news for us as believers. 

You’ll be encouraged during this week’s episode to know that as children of God, we have God’s Spirit within us to empower (ENLIVEN) us. Just think about what it took to raise Jesus from the dead. It’s the same spirit, the same power, that raises us from spiritual death and incapacity!
