Today America celebrates it's independence from the British Monarchy rule, but did every soul that touched American soil get their independence? In this episode I talk about the history of the holiday and why I personally chose not to celebrate. I introduce a speech that was given by Fredrick Douglas in 1852 regarding this momentous occasion and the that there men who were not created equal. Contrary to popular belief there is a Black National Anthem.  The song "Lift ever voice and Sing" has often been referred to as the black national anthem. I am very familiar with this song and I am very privileged to have learned it at a very young age, The NFL has just announced they will play the song before a game to open the season.  Tune in to learn more. #LiftEveryVoiceAndSing
