0.0  - We’ll be unpacking the Australian Open News Corp coverage. . . but first a review of the break. Damo’s first working day in January after a very relaxing break. And are the rumours true that Hutchy actually switched his phone off for 2 days?

4.36 – The Winx of Journalism (aka Nick McKenzie) has had a tough summer. He’s had to apologise for some reporting. Hutchy suggests being an aggressive journalist has never been harder than it is in 2023. The deep end of the pool has never been deeper.

6.45pm – Day 1 of the Australian Open and it was clear there was going to be some drama between the News Corp coverage and the AO and Nine Media. What did we make of the coverage and the negative click bait campaign? Have the News Corp, Fox and Kayo consortium versus the Nine, Stan, The Age, SMH crew become the natural combatants of Australian media?

14.40 – The Michael Clarke / Karl Stefanovic story – it had every tabloid link know to man. Damo confesses he felt a bit dirty consuming this story but couldn’t help himself. The Daily Mail came up with some very creative angles to link Lara Worthington to the story.

22.15 – Pip Edwards Revenge body headlines – surely we’ve moved beyond these kind of stories?

23.45 – “This is just like a therapy session”. Damo fires up about Melbourne racing with suggestion the Cox Plate be moved.

28.20 – How do we see the NRL fight between the players and V’Landy’s going? NRL have made the biggest pay commitment in some time but it’s causing tension.  Can USA players really save the NRL as the Daily Telegraph suggested in their clickbait headline?

32.00 – Discussion of the conditions for World Cup broadcasters and how they depicted the FIFA president in coverage. It’s a ‘next level control’ mechanism and next level clause in broadcast rights.

34.50 - Has the NBL won Damo over this Summer? Hutchy’s Wildcats Update (including the awkward Hi-5 moment with the Jack Jumpers’ coach).

38.30 – Question of the Week for Drinkwise from Andrew V who says “I saw that Hutchy was a notable absentee at the hugely successful and culturally important annual event, The Wildcats Family and Fan Day. Is this Hutchy's "I don't hold a hose mate" moment?”

40.00 – Superbowl is just around the corner.
