Robert Carlan Dean, 84, of Jackson, passed away on April 21, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. Robert was born on July 9, 1940, in Aliceville, to parents LeeRoy Dean and Ruth Ezell Dean. Kristen Yeager ripped a two-run home and Zoey Rooks tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout as Jackson defeated visiting No. 8-ranked Class 1A Leroy 5-0 in softball on April 22. Yeager’s homer came in the third inning and Bree Woolfolk added two hits and two RBIs for the Aggies (25-7). Losing pitcher McKenzie Smith allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings. Jackson hosted the 4A Area 2 tournament Monday, with the winner going to the South Regional in Gulf Shores May 5-8.
