Our guests this morning are Brian Waldman, Stephanie Murg and Chris Rogers, co-founders of Garage 77.

Garage 77 is a unique community garage concept, founded in 2017 in Redondo Beach.  Brian and longtime friend Chris Rogers came up with a business model that provides classic cars in a vintage space to a small group of members.  The goal was to create an experience that offers all the perks of owning classic cars, without the hassle, at a fraction of the cost, in your own private garage lounge.

Chris Rogers is a life-long east coaster. A short assignment in 2002 gave him a taste of the South Bay, and he's never been able to stay away for long since then. Being in NYC doesn't give him much opportunity to drive, so he loves having an amazing lineup of cars waiting in sunny California.  

Stephanie Murg grew up in Columbus, Ohio and attended DePaul University in Chicago where she met her husband. After a 4-year stint in Dallas, they made their way to the South Bay in 2013 and haven't looked back. Their growing love of Classic cars paired with the Southern California lifestyle was where the idea for Garage 77 was born. 

This morning, we’re going to learn about Garage 77 and all those fabulous cars!

Our guests this morning are Steven and Cindy Carvel and Suzanne Karger from the Manhattan Beach Kiwanis.

Cindy Carvel was born in Spain and raised in Texas. She began her career in luxury home development where she gained vast knowledge of construction, design and new home and lot sales. 

Steven Carvel is a Manhattan Beach based estate planning attorney that has worked in the community for over a dozen years handling estate planning needs. He was a member of the Leadership Manhattan Beach class of 2017 where he was the class project co-lead for the renovation of Manhattan Beach’s historic Santa Float which has been in operation since 1955. 

Suzanne Karger is a 20 year resident in Manhattan Beach who retired after a 35 year career in the fashion industry.  She is currently serving the community as a Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Commissioner. 

This morning, we’re going to learn about a couple of the Manhattan Beach Kiwanis holiday events – the ever popular Santa Float and the first annual Breakfast with Santa event.

Our guest this morning is Barry Brisk, Musical Director of the Beach Cities Symphony.

Barry Brisk first conducted in public at the age of fourteen, when he performed selections from South Pacific at his graduation from Webster Junior High School in West Los Angeles.

As a student, he also conducted the orchestras at University High School, Mount St. Mary's College, and the University of Music in Vienna, Austria where he studied with the prominent conductor/teacher Hans Swarowsky. Since then, he has conducted many orchestras in Southern California, as well as in Mexico and Austria.

Maestro Brisk has been Music Director of the Beach Cities Symphony since 1994 and is particularly proud of having expanded the orchestra's repertoire.

This will be Maestro Brisk’s final season with Beach Cities Symphony and this morning, we’re going to discuss his illustrious career.

Our guest this morning is the author, record producer and photographer SPOT.

Back when men were stupid and women were pretty, Spot took photos, played music, recorded music, skated his ass off, worked for the Easy Reader, promoted foolish conspiracies and chased many improbable dreams... demolishing some in the process... but most of them were free. So there.

He doesn’t take photos anymore but has published the image-based books Sounds of Two Eyes Opening, and the zine Anti-Punk Rock: A History. He just completed the multi-voice audiobook production of G. S. Oldman’ s Decline and Fall of Alternative Civilization.

SPOT’s photo exhibition, Ride the Wild Wheels, is currently showing at Pacific Coast Gallery in Hermosa.  

The Closing Reception for Ride the Wild Wheels will include a Panel and Q&A this Saturday, November 3 at 7 p.m. The panel includes SPOT, SST Records co-owner Joe Carducci, and Randy Nauert from the seminal surf rock band, The Challengers. The panel and Q&A will start at 8 p.m.

Our guest this morning is Manhattan Beach City Council Member, Richard Montgomery.

Richard is also a past Manhattan Beach City Council Member, having served from 2005 to 2013. A 29 year resident of Manhattan Beach, Richard was born in Houston, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin. He served on the Independent Cities Association, was elected by its members to the Board of Directors in 2005 and elected President for 2010-2011. Richard was appointed to the National League of Cities Training Council in 2007 and has been reappointed every year. 

We have a big election coming up on November 6 and this morning, we’ll go over the pros and cons of the various Ballot Propositions – all 11 of them.
