Our guest this morning is author Marcus Goodie Goodloe, Ph.D. 

A  Compton native, Goodie travels around the country mentoring students and educators, business professionals, athletes and entertainers, and faith communities on a range of issues including cultural and interpersonal relationships, leadership, team and synergy, character formation, and faith. Goodie is an active volunteer at Wave Church where he heads up the pastoral care team and serves on the speaking team for the other Wave Church campuses around the country under the leadership of Pastors Steve and Sharon Kelly.

Additionally, he serves as Teaching Pastor at Parkcrest Church in Long Beach under the leadership of Mike Goldsworthy.

He has worked with the Oklahoma University Sooners, Dallas Baptist University Athletics, Southern Mississippi, University of New Mexico and Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the national and state levels, along with professional teams including the NFL's Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers

Goodie serves on the Community Engagement Board for Redondo Beach Police Department and he continues to work with members of the law enforcement community as well as community activists in an effort to foster a better understanding on matters of fairness and justice with respect to the judicial system, and cooperative policing.

Beach Cities Symphony - Music Director, Barry Brisk

Barry Brisk first conducted in public at the age of fourteen, when he performed selections from South Pacific at his graduation from Webster Junior High School in West Los Angeles.

Professionally, Brisk has conducted many orchestras in Southern California, as well as in Mexico and Austria.

Maestro Brisk has been Music Director of the Beach Cities Symphony since 1994 and is particularly proud of having expanded the orchestra's repertoire. 

Barry Brisk pre-concert lecture at 7:15 PM - The concert is free. Parking is $3. Bring three one dollar bills to make it easy to use the parking kiosks.

Our guest this morning is Ken Hira, Executive Vice President for Kosmont Companies.

An expert in retail development and strategies for retail attraction, Ken has over 25 years of varied experience in virtually every aspect of real estate financing, downtown revitalization, acquisition, entitlement, development, asset management and disposition. His expertise is in identifying retail tenants and negotiating retail and mixed-use projects that can revitalize communities and assist in economic development/tax generation programs.

Ken is an active volunteer leader of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).  He serves as the ICSC Western Division P3 Retail Chair, advocating public-private partnerships, while previously serving as the ICSC Southern California State Director, Program Committee Chair and Alliance Co-Chair. He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and Business from UCLA.

Ken is a Keynote Speaker at the Manhattan Beach Chamber Economic Forum taking place on Wednesday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Joslyn Community Center.

Our guest this morning is legendary artist John Van Hamersveld.

John is an American graphic artist and illustrator who has designed album artwork for pop and psychedelic bands since the 1960s including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead. Born and raised in the South Bay, John has been an important figure in the local surf culture which has influenced his art such as the iconic poster for the surf film Endless Summer.

John recently unveiled a massive mural on a tank at the DWP facility in El Segundo. During the event, the DWP representative was so enthusiastic, he talked about John doing similar projects at their facilities up and down the California coast.

Our guest this morning is Jayne Justice, a Certified Holistic Health Counselor and Fitness Instructor.

 Jayne has been involved in dance, fitness, sports, and nutrition her whole life. She received her BS in Nutrition from William Woods University and completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of Iowa City Hospitals and Clinics. After having graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, she focused on individualized holistic coaching with her clients. Jayne is the author of the Vibrant Living 7 day Detox Program, and a workshop/seminar speaker. Her commitment to teaching and her enthusiasm for ‘feeling good’ is contagious. Her goal is to help as many people find a more vibrant life and empower them to take charge. Jayne is also a fitness instructor at Yoga Cycle and teaches her own Kangoo Blast class.

Our guest this morning is the Chief of the Redondo Beach Police Department, Keith Kauffman.

Chief Kauffman has been a police officer since 1994 for the City of Hawthorne. His experience encompasses an array of assignments including patrol, gangs, narcotics, SWAT and more. He has served as a team-member and commander and is a two-time “Medal of Valor” recipient. He achieved the rank of Captain in 2008 and began working on the Coffee with a Cop program in 2011. Captain Kauffman was selected as the new Chief of Police for the Redondo Beach in October of 2015. 

Chief Kauffman holds a BA Degree from UCLA in Spanish Literature/Linguistics and an MS Degree from CSDHU in Negotiations/Conflict Management. He is also the 2014 graduate of the California POST Command College, Class 55, and winner of the Dorothy Harris Award for his published journal article. 

He enjoys surfing, spearfishing, motocross, and competing with his 15 year old son for the highest number of emergency room visits.

Over the next seventeen years, 50 franchises opened throughout Denmark. Intent on sharing their amazing ice cream with the world, they set sail for America. Paradis HQ established itself in California and now has 10 franchises.

Our guests this morning are Dr. Debra Voulgaris and Dr. Amy Kramer from Beach Animal Rehabilitation Center.

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Masters of Arts degree from the City University of New York at Hunter College, Dr. Debra Voulgaris went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Amy Kramer received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and Recreation from Whittier College.  She continued her education at Cerritos College where she graduated with honors from the Physical Therapist Assistant program in 1993. Dr. Amy went on to pursue her Masters in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences.

Beach Animal Rehabilitation Center (BARC) is a specialty clinic specifically aimed at helping pets live longer, healthier lives by treating them using a holistic approach combining both Eastern and Western medicine techniques.  Rehabilitation is performed by a combination of caring, qualified veterinarians and physical therapists specifically certified in this growing field.
