Our guest this morning is Latrice McGlothin, Community Relations Manager for Kinecta Federal Credit Union.

Latrice has more than 20 years of experience as a community builder and advocate. Her area of focus is on providing clear, sound and tailored service to connect employees, members and the community through mutually beneficial resources and experiences for the purpose of promoting goodwill.

Since 1994, Latrice has supported organizations throughout California including the Richstone Family Center, Manhattan Beach Education Foundation, Centinela Valley Union High School District, the Volunteer Center of South Bay, the Friendship Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and the Estelle Van Meter Senior Center.

Some of her work at Kinecta includes creating an internship program, establishing a Volunteer Corps, managing philanthropic giving, developing financial literacy programs for adults, creating a scholarship program, and spearheading numerous fundraiser efforts.

She currently sits on the Boards for the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Latrice holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from California State University Long Beach with an emphasis in Acting.

Our guest this morning is Susan Dever, Former Mayor and City Council Member for the City of Lomita.

Susan Dever was born and raised in Oklahoma and has resided in Southern California since 1971. She and her husband have lived in Lomita since 1989.

After graduating from Oklahoma State University (B.A., Spanish), Susan joined the Peace Corps and served for 2 years teaching English as a Foreign Language in northern Nigeria.

Susan has been a member of numerous Lomita city boards and commissions. In 2001, she was elected to the Lomita City Council. She served as a councilmember for 8 years and was mayor in 2003-4 and 2008-9. During her time on the City Council, she also chaired the South Bay Cities Council of Governments, held leadership positions in the California Contract Cities Association and the South Bay Workforce Investment Network, and represented the city at regional and state government levels.

Due to her interest and experience working with libraries and museums, Susan served for 6 years as liaison between the City Council and the Lomita Railroad Museum Advisory and Foundation boards. After stepping down from the City Council, she joined the museum Foundation Board, has been its president since 2013, and currently also serves as a member of the Board of Governors/Trustees for the L.A County Museum of Natural History.

Our guest this morning is Mark Nicholas, owner of Manhattan Beach Studios.

Mark has an incredibly diverse background. A graduate of Syracuse University, he practiced law for more than two decades advising and consulting artists and businesses prior to becoming a full time creative professional. He began his AV career as a sound technician for bands such as 10,000 Maniacs and Meatloaf. With credits as a recording artist, producer and engineer, Mark has been a voting member of the Grammy’s for 15 years. As a photographer, Mark enjoys product and commercial photography and takes a special interest in technical, high speed, 360 degree and splash photography. He is a frequent speaker, author and educator, having taught hundreds of classes in photography, lighting and technical imaging.

His studio is one of only a handful capable of photographing objects at less than a millionth of a second. In addition to the photography and creative services, the studio plays a major role in assisting individuals and businesses with live and recorded video streaming and broadcast. As the owner of Manhattan Beach Studios, Mark has developed a broad range of expertise.

Originally from the South Bay, Sam is a former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Arizona State Sun Devils, where he was an All-Pac-10 first team selection in 1981. Sam was drafted in the 1981 NBA Draft in the second round and played for the Golden State Worriers from 1981’- 1983’ and the Philadelphia 76ers through 1985. Our guests this morning are Dave Williamson, Comedian and Producer of The Gundo Comedy Festival and Comedian David Yates.

After years of working his way through his family’s car business in Miami, Dave Williamson decided he enjoyed making his customers laugh more than he did making them deals. Since then, Dave was deemed “Best Comedian” by the Miami New Times; has excelled in almost every prestigious U.S. Comedy Festival, and performed on NickMom’s “NickMom Night Out”, and “Laughs” on FOX. Dave regularly performs at all of the legendary Los Angeles comedy clubs and tours heavily. Comedian David Yates, born and raised in Illinois, performs across the country and pursues life, laughter, and music. He was also a featured performer at the nation’s largest music festival, Summer Fest, in Milwaukee, WI.

Our guest this morning is Andreanna Giuliano Liguore of Bettolino Kitchen

For as long as Andreanna can remember, she’s always dreamed of opening her own Italian restaurant. She comes from three generations of restaurateurs - her great-grandparents Francis and Gaetano Giuliano opened Giuliano’s Deli in Gardena back in the 1950's. Andreanna’s parents opened Gaetano’s Restaurant in the 1990's when she was eight years old. Gaetano’s, originally intended as a deli, quickly became a full-service restaurant, where Andreanna and her brother Vince spent most of their childhood. 

After college, Andreanna continued to work at Gaetano’s while her brother Vince was in Florence, Italy learning everything there is to know about Italian cuisine at culinary school. It wasn’t until Vince came home, when the siblings and Andreanna’s husband Sean Liguore, decided that they wanted to open their own restaurant. 

Fast forward to present day, Andreanna now has 7-month old Giuliana Liguore who spends every other day at Bettolino Kitchen as Andreanna continues to handle customer service, marketing, and financial aspects of the restaurant. Just like Giuliano's and Gaetano's, Bettolino Kitchen has become a new South Bay favorite for locals and visitors alike.

So this morning, we’re back to our favorite topic – food – specifically Italian food, one of my favorites!

Kim Ruggles’ professional career began with the American Diabetes Association, where she planned walks, cycling events, various galas and an annual golf tournament. She then moved onto the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce as the Program and Event Manager where she planned networking mixers, award shows, the mayoral State of the City Address, product launches and seminars.  

Amy Erret is the owner of E3 Vehicles located in Redondo Beach and she’s busy preaching the gospel of neighborhood electric vehicles to the people of the Beach Cities. Once entrenched in the world of medical sales before leaving to raise her family, Amy was feeling the itch to dive back into business.

Steve Farguson is the VP of Sales at Absolution Brewing. Born and bred in the South Bay, Steve is in his element sharing his experience and knowledge of Absolution’s extensive and ever evolving range of products with craft beer enthusiasts. 

Dane Farguson, Steve's son, grew up on Coronado Island in San Diego, surrounded by the great beer culture of that city. He recently graduated from Loyola Marymount University and has been part of the Absolution team since moving to Los Angeles in January 2015.

This morning, we’re going to discuss the growth of the craft beer industry in the South Bay and what guests can expect at this year’s Bite at the Beach.

Our guest this morning is Jocelyn Lopez, owner of the new Lunada Market & Deli.

Jocelyn brings more than just food to the forefront — she has plans to extend her family table to the community, making every customer feel at home when they enter the Market.  This is already happening as she can be found exchanges recipes with her new extended neighborhood family.  Jocelyn relishes that her vision has come to fruition - old acquaintances reunite and new friendships appear sporadically all over the Market on a daily basis.  She is known to the children in the community as “the kindness lady” as she helps teach character education at the local schools and even finds time to throw in some science experiments as teaching modules.  Jocelyn feels lucky to have received such a warm welcome and looks forward to serving the community as she rolls out the Market in phases.  Next up will be the introduction of a juice and smoothie bar, made to order sandwiches and salads, poke bar, increased deli selection, take and bake meals, and then a full cafe with a rotating breakfast, lunch and dinner menu prepared from seasonal products. 

This morning, we’re going to hear all about this much anticipated new shopping venue on the hill.
