Our guest this morning is Arnette Travis from the Redondo Beach “Waterfront Crew”.
Arnette has been in the financial services’ industry since 1988. After working for NYSE member firms as a stockbroker/financial advisor, she transitioned her practice in 2010 to that of an Independent Advisor to better serve her clients and in 2015 formed AT Life, a life insurance advisory firm. Her mission is to help individuals and small business owners become financially secure without taking undue risks. She specializes in guaranteed lifetime income streams, tax advantaged benefits and estate protection.
A 25+ year resident of Redondo Beach, Arnette is a member of the 2015 Leadership Redondo Class and is actively involved in her community. She has been a member of the North Redondo Beach Business Association for 15+ years and is the secretary of the organization.
Arnette is also a wellness advocate; she serves as a Blue Zones Project® Ambassador and is currently writing a book on cultural issues.
The Waterfront Crew is working with CenterCal on the proposed Waterfront development and Arnette is going to bring us up to date on where the project currently stands.

Our guest this morning is Rachel Thomas from the Manhattan Beach Young Entrepreneur’s Academy.
Rachel Thomas is a 16 year veteran of Manhattan Beach Middle School with 22 years teaching experience. She is currently in the English Department and is the teacher and advisor for the MBMS student newspaper. She loves technology and thrives on ways to bring it into the classroom, wanting students to learn the skills and critical thinking they will need to be successful in any undertaking. She joined the MB Chamber in 2014 when they first brought the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) to Manhattan Beach, and has worked on developing and teaching the program since then. The first class began in 2015, and she is excited about this next year of the program and helping students fulfill their entrepreneurial dreams !

Our guests this morning are Gina Sievert and Mary Wright from Torrance Memorial.
As Director of Torrance Memorial Medical Center’s Maternal Child Services, Mary Wright is responsible for strategy and operational leadership of a staff of more than 250 in the day-to-day management of the Mother Baby Unit, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Labor & Delivery department helps to support the South Bay’s newest residents by overseeing the birth of more than 3,000 babies annually. Mary’s leadership with these units includes serving as an active member of the high risk OB committee, which focuses on multidisciplinary care plans for high risk mothers and neonates. Currently, Mary is engaged in the remodeling and relocation of the NICU, Mother Baby and Pediatrics Units to the North Patient Tower.
Gina Sievert graduated from Long Beach State with a degree in Child Development. She began her career at Miller Children’s hospital working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as well as General Pediatrics and has been at Torrance Memorial Medical for 21 years working in General Pediatrics, Burn Unit, Short Stay, NICU and the Adult Palliative Care Team.
This morning, we're going to hear about the recent, sold out event, Evening under the Stars: The 30 Annual Gourmet Food & Wine Festival. The gala took place on Saturday, August 27 at the Honda Headquarters in Torrance with the proceeds benefiting Torrance Memorial Medical Center and For Our Children.

August 31, 2016 Art at the Harbor
Our guests this morning are wood turning artist Richard Gould and painter/photographer Bernard Fallon.
From an early age, Richard Gould was exposed to woodworking by his father and since then, he has constantly been creating and growing in his capacity as a woodcrafter. About five years ago, he bought a wood lathe to join his already existing workshop and he has been turning wood ever since. Richard’s pieces are made from wood that most people consider to be scrap. He’s rescued hundreds of logs and repurposed them into beautiful art. Each piece of wood is different and has its own challenges. He tries to bring out the unique aspects of each type of wood, creating one-of-a-kind pieces. For Richard, trash turns to treasure and he never knows what treasure he will find inside.
Bernard Fallon is a graduate from the Liverpool College of Art and the Leicester Polytechnic School of Photography. He has spent a lifetime in the visual arts as a painter, teacher and photographer. Bernard’s strong landscape and still life painting derives from his direct observation of nature, and training in the thoroughly grounded traditions of fine art. His work shows not only his integrity as a plein air painter, but also his direct appreciation of the visible world. He works mostly with oils and pastels, and his paintings are in collections throughout the United States and Europe.
This morning, we’re going to learn about the brand new exhibit, Art at the Harbor, which will take place on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at 245 Harbor Drive in Redondo Beach.

August 26, 2016 Pub at the Club
Our guests this morning are Dean Schoppe and Mary Ann Borders from the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club.
Dean Schoppe is a resident of Manhattan Beach and has been a badminton club member his entire life. He teaches at CSUDH part time and has been a member of every USA team and event (except the Olympic Games) in the sport of badminton. Dean is a certified para-Badminton Coach and coaching instructor for USAB and the para Olympic team for 2020.
Mary Ann Borders moved to Los Angeles from Pittsburgh in 1980 and became one of the first concierges in the city of Los Angeles. She spent 20 years as a concierge and 13 years as Director of Catering for various organizations including The Zislis Group.
This morning, Dean and Mary Ann will tell us what attendees can expect at Pub at the Club taking place at the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club on Sunday, August 28 from 1 to 5 p.m.
