August 03, 2016 Craig Funabashi, Home Inspections
Our guest this morning is Craig Funabashi, President and Principal Inspector at Property Professor, Inc. based in Redondo Beach.
Over the last 20 years, Craig has performed over 5000 residential and commercial inspections. As a Master Inspector, he has obtained the highest designation available from the prestigious California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA). He is also a Certified Member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI).
As an active leader in his profession, Craig currently serves as the Editor-In-Chief of the State-wide magazine INSPECTOR JOURNAL. Locally, he was recently Chapter President of the Los Angeles West / South Bay Chapter for a second time from 2010-2012. He was previously elected to the CREIA State Board of Directors, serving multiple terms as a Regional Director and State Director-at-Large, culminating as Vice Chairman 2009-2010. In May 2013, he was awarded one of CREIA’s top honors, the “Jerry McCarthy - Inspector Fellow Award” for his many years of volunteer work for the Association.
He currently serves as a Commissioner for the City of Redondo Beach on the Public Works Commission.
Craig is married with two children. He is an avid sailor and the Commodore at Port Royal Yacht Club.
This morning, we’re going to have a master class on inspections and learn everything you need to know about it before buying or selling a home.

Our guest this morning is Martin Ensberg
Martin was born in Minnesota, grew up in New York and attended school at California Lutheran University where he receive his BA in Economics.
He has worked in the banking industry for 44 years and is currently employed by Citizen’s Business Bank in Manhattan Beach. Martin has been a member of the Manhattan Beach Chamber for 4 years and is the current Chairman of Board.
There have been some big changes at the Chamber recently - CEO James O’Callaghan recently left to go work with the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce - and Martin is going to give us some insight as to the state of the Chamber and what possible direction it may go in the future.

Our guest this morning is Founder, Rob Rubens, of Rob Rubens Distilling & Brewing located in El Segundo.
Rob knew it was time for a career change after his very first distillery tour. A few years later, after numerous distillery and brewery visits, scraping together enough savings, and plenty of “R & D,” it was time to start another great wave.
Coupling his experience, with the desire to bring quality spirits and beer to Los Angeles all under one roof, Rob decided to open his combination distillery and brewery. Rob’s extensive training and collaboration with over a dozen distillers and brewers has allowed the production of his kick-ass line of spirits and beer in Los Angeles.
This morning, we’re going to hear how Rob brought the first distillery to El Segundo since the 1930s. It is also the first joint distillery and brewery in the Los Angeles area, and one of only a few in the entire state.

Our guests this morning are Jeff Ginsburg, Joan Irvine and Ann Dalkey from the community group, keep the Esplanade Beautiful.
Jeff is the District One Council Member for the City of Redondo Beach. He is a licensed real estate broker and operates his own property management firm located in Riviera Village. Jeff grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes where he attended school and raised his family.
Ann Dalkey has lived in Redondo Beach for over 30 years. As a marine biologist for the City of Los Angeles’ Environmental Monitoring Division, Ann noticed during monitoring cruises along the coast that the coast line in the South Bay was predominantly concrete in contrast to the much greener looking coast line north of Santa Monica. As a regular visitor to the Esplanade, she also noticed that the beach bluffs were covered with iceplant, a native plant from South America.
Joan Irvine has become well-known in Redondo Beach due to her work with Keep the Esplanade Beautiful. She was member of the 2008 Leadership Redondo class, a Chamber member and wedding officiant. Joan has had a varied and successful career in sales, marketing, technology, and association management.
This morning, we’re going to learn what it takes to Keep the Esplanade Beautiful and hear about some upcoming community events.

Our guest this morning is Samantha Prins, Director of Outreach and Enrollment for Halstrom Academy in Manhattan Beach.
Samantha is a South Bay native who earned her teaching credential at Loyola Marymount. Her passion for education continued as she managed a local tutoring company, Study Hut Tutoring. She continued to pursue her career in education by receiving her M.Ed from Vanderbilt University in International Education Policy and Management. While in Nashville, Samantha worked as the Special Projects Manager for the Tennessee Department of Education. Upon her return to California, she fell in love with the one-on-one model Halstrom Academy offers to students. Samantha has been working at Halstrom Academy since 2015 and is dedicated to supporting students as they advance through their academic careers.
This morning, we’re going to learn about Halstrom Academy and the programs they offer.
