Maybe not the fermented shark or sheep’s head, but many of Iceland’s well-known dishes can be recreated with North American fish and wild game. The most popular items seen on menus throughout the country are Fish Stew, which isn’t stew-like at all, and Meat Soup, which can come in dozens of varieties. Icelanders also eat their fare share of horse, whale and Atlantic puffins in some areas, so there is much opportunity for adventurous food enthusiasts.
