In this episode, we speak with Ben Walker who is the AFLW Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Western Bulldogs. Ben currently also works as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Xavier College and a Practical Demonstrator at Deakin University. 

We chat with Ben about his passion or exercise science and how he decided on going moving into strength and conditioning, the most challenging and rewarding parts of his job, what he does as a research assistant and his role at the Bulldogs within the AFLW scene.

In this episode, we continue our 'Sport Student Series' where we have discussions with recent graduates and current students. This week, we hear from Lizzie Dingeldei who is currently studying a Masters of Applied Sport Science after completing a double degree in sports science and sports management. 

We discuss Lizzie's experience in volunteer positions and the value she has gained from them, how she found studying the double degree and what lead her to begin a Masters in Applied Sport Science, and the time she has spent as a Talent ID Support Intern at the Geelong Football Club.

In this episode, we speak with Jodie O’Donohue! Jodie currently works at the Collingwood Football Club as a Membership Services Coordinator and is arguably an AFL membership specialist with close to 6 years spent working across the membership department at Collingwood and North Melbourne FC in the AFL. 

We discover what it is like working at the Collingwood FC, one of the biggest sporting brands in Australia and how the club approached COVID-19 with their members. We also discuss how Jodie has created a sustained presence in the sports industry without taking the conservative university path, and learn about her transition between AFL clubs in Melbourne and how the two compare.

We discuss how Milli has tackled getting the wealth of experience she has and how she has found working within a smaller sporting organisation recently during her time at Baseball Australia. We also delve into a research project that Milli has been involved in which is looking at the current concussion issues surrounding Australian Rules Football.

In this episode, we speak with Ticker TV News Presenter and Sporting Host and MC, Adrian Franklin. After starting out his career within Tennis Australia, Adrian found his true calling after being tapped on the shoulder by none other than CEO Craig Tilley!

We learn how Adrian's career lead him to begin working within sports journalism and presentation which has seen him work at over 10 Australian Opens and both the French and US Opens. Adrian also provides us with an insight into what it's like to work at Fox Sports. We also dive into what it is like to present live at sporting events and how Adrian has coped with anxiety over the journey.

In this episode, we continue our 'Sport Student Series' where we have discussions with recent graduates and current students. We introduce our latest member to The Sports Bubble team, Ryan Patterson and hear about his journey so far at Deakin University. Ryan is entering his 4th year studying at Deakin, currently undertaking his 3rd course: the double degree of Exercise Science and Sport Management. We discuss how he has found alternating between multiple degrees, before finally finding the pathway for him.

We also hear about his experience as a Ballkid Supervisor at the Australian Open, and how the preparation has been for this year’s COVID safe tournament, as well as his positive approach to multiple lockdown’s last year.

In this episode, we speak with sports marketing expert Michael Angus. Michael has been involved in marketing for the past 10 years and is currently the Marketing Manager at Athletics Australia. Previously, Michael has had experience working within Golf, a sport he loves, where he was the Marketing and Corporate Sales Manager at Cobra Puma Golf.  

We discuss where Michael's passions lie across marketing and sport, the challenges of marketing a sport like Golf in terms of identifying new target markets, his transition across to Athletics Australia and the goals and aspirations for athletics moving forward.

In this episode, we  speak with Scott Walton! Scott is a social media and content creation expert, who has an impressive CV after only 8-9 years working across several sporting organisations and broadcasters here in Melbourne. 

We discuss how Scott established The Highlights Club, and created an online platform with close to 19 thousand followers. We get an insight into the social media department of the AFL, hear about the differences between working for a broadcaster vs sporting organisation, and get his thoughts on the future of documentaries and content creation in sport.
