In this episode, we continue our 'Sport Student Series' where we have discussions with recent graduates and current students. We introduce new members to The Sports Bubble team, Ashlee Clark and Emily Orrell. Ash is currently in her final year of a Sports Business degree and Em is in the final year of her Exercise Science and Sports Business double degree. We get to know the girls and discuss what universities could be doing better to help students when they graduate, the challenges of finding placement and volunteer roles in recent times and who they are interested in interviewing on the podcast.

In this episode, we are fortunate enough to speak with Neil Dalrymple who is the CEO of Bowls Australia. Neil has over 25 years of experience in senior management positions within the sports industry, which includes being the CEO of Softball Australia, a Community Cricket Manager at Cricket Australia and the CEO of Northern Territory Cricket. We discuss Neil’s leadership style, the exposure issues for sports like Bowls, whether the social aspects of local and community sports are more important than ever and the direction and goals for Bowls Australia coming out of COVID.

We start off by introducing Nathan Perrone who is a new addition to The Sports Bubble team. Nathan is currently studying a Sports Business degree and currently works as a Sales Administration Supervisor at Plus Fitness. We discuss his involvement in volunteer roles, how he went about finding placement towards the end of last year and also how things have picked up over the past few months at Plus Fitness.

In this episode, we speak with the newly appointed Deakin University Sport Society (DUSS) President, Rushi Patel. Rushi is currently a student at Deakin University completing his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science and Business (Sports Management). We discuss, Rushi’s involvement at his local cricket club, his time at Exercise Research Australia and most importantly his role and this years' plans for the Deakin University Sport Society.

In this episode, we speak with the very popular Reuben Williams who is the Founder and Co-Host of SportsGrad. Reuben started SportsGrad while still at university before landing a role as a Digital Commercial Specialist at Cricket Australia straight out of uni. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Reuben saw the opportunity to relaunch the SportsGrad platform in July 2020, where many goals and milestones have been reached. In our chat, we discuss with Reuben what he sees as the biggest challenge for those looking to enter the sports industry, the skills and attributes organisations find valuable, his time at Cricket Australia, how SportsGrad came about and what motives him.

In this episode, we speak with basketball fanatic Ryan Tragardh who is currently working as the Commercial Executive for the NBL's newest team, the South East Melbourne Phoenix. Ryan started his career marketing in the e-commerce and retail space before transferring over to the sports industry at the Phoenix. We discuss some of the similarities and differences in the different industries Ryan has worked within, what it has been like developing the identity of a new NBL club, what his role entails and how a new club like the Phoenix has gone about attracting partners.

In this episode, we chat with Ross La Rosa who works as the Manager of Precinct Operations at Tennis Australia. Ross started his career in marketing, before working overseas in Atlanta in the US and an opportunity to work with the AFL as part of his role at GEMBA, ignited his enthusiasm for the sports industry. Ross has also previously worked at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and the Melbourne Showgrounds. We discuss his time in the US, the story of how he became involved at Tennis Australia and how he has settled in, where the organisation and planning of AO 2021 has been a big focus.

Olivia completed her undergraduate degree midway through this year and is currently working as a Club Services Officer at Australian Sailing. Olivia discusses her transition out of university into the workforce, how she has developed herself professionally throughout this year, her experiences and thoughts on working within larger and smaller sporting organisations and of course her current role and some of the challenges that Australian Sailing has faced this year.
