The SportsGrid Fantasy Football Show

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show talking about how the Williams', Mike and Tyrell for the Chargers, and Damien for the Chiefs, dominated the fantasy scoreboard in the Thursday night thrilling win for the Chargers. A hip injury to Keenan Allen has possibly forced him out of the starting lineup, and Dane and Scott believe Mike Williams is set to take over as the WR1 in Los Angeles. The guys agree that with some big road wins in the last few weeks, Phillip Rivers has put himself in the drivers seat for MVP, but Scott says he has to lead the Chargers to the Super Bowl. Scott also says the Chargers did fantasy owners a great service, citing how the Chiefs loss keeps starters in lineups for Week 16\. The guys chat with Dr. A of Inside Injuries to talk about some questionable status of players like TY Hilton, Kerryon Johnson, and Ben Roethlisberger. Dr. A says to monitor the health of Odell Beckham, as he goes for a second opinion on his quad. Dane and Scott finish the show making their Week 15 picks, with the guys agreeing the Steelers downward spiral continues as they head for big match-up against the Patriots.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show talking about the big injury updates heading in to tonight's game between the Chiefs and Chargers, and how 3rd string running backs like Justin Jackson and Damian Williams will could be in line for RB1 value type games. The guys look at some practice reports, with Dane's interest peaking at a back injury for Carson Wentz, with Scott saying Nick Foles has the chance to keep the Eagles in the playoff hunt, and extend the season for Wentz. Learning about Redskins RB Derrius Guice dealing with infections after his own surgery to repair his ACL, Dane questions if there is an issue with Washington team doctors, who also have been dealing with infections to the injured leg of Alex Smith. Lamar Jackson will be starting for the Ravens, even with Joe Flacco coming back from injury, and the guys question, and predict, that Flacco will be a game-managing starter for another team sext season.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show talking about how important it is for teams to win Week 15, with Dane saying teams with top seeds who lose in Week 15 should be more disappointed then losing in the championship Week 16 matchups. The guys warn everyone that this week starts Saturday games, and say people need to make sure their lineups are set before then. Dane, talking about his top seed team in Week 15, worries that 3 of his 4 running backs could be out, and wonders if there is a last second move he can make to get a full lineup.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show talk about the Seahawks taking down the Vikings to put themselves in the drivers seat for the top wild card spot in the NFC. The game was won by the Seahawks defense, which has the guy questioning that in the season where we see teams put up as many as 50 points a week, if defenses are starting to clamp down, and win football games for teams. Dane questions if the Vikings got the right guy in Kirk Cousins, comparing the Vikings 6-6-1 record with the Broncos and former Viking QB, Case Keenum's, 6-7 record. Speaking of teams sitting at .500 or lower, the guys question which teams will land that last Wild Card spot in the NFC.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show looking back at big wins for the Bears and Cowboys, putting them in the drivers seats to win their respective divisions. The fact that both teams beat the top 2 seeds in the NFC (Rams and Saints) has the guys questioning if they can replicate their victories in the playoffs; Scott explains they can, but it will be tough since they will have to travel to New Orleans and Los Angeles, and coaches will have tape to learn where they went wrong. In the AFC, the guys question how you score laterals, seeing 2 yesterday, one by the Steelers against the Raiders, and one by the Dolphins that ended with a game winning touchdown by Kenyan Drake against the Patriots. Looking at the Steelers, the guys question severity of the rib injury to Ben Roethlisberger, and why the Steelers waited to go down against the Raiders to bring him back in the game. The guys look at some running back committees, and wonder if Justin Jackson is a trustworthy RB2 after producing nothing yesterday against the Bengals.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show talking about Derrick Henry's big night against the Jaguars, and how the Jacksonville defense made his night look even better with theatrical tackling misses. Henry's big night makes the guys warn every owner, do not think you won just because 1 player goes off, with Scott citing how he once used Peyton Manning the year he threw 7 touchdowns in one game, and still lost. Dr. A of Inside Injuries joins the show to update the guys on the latest injury news, including the post-surgery infection that Alex Smith has been dealing, which is also being treated as a possible career-ending issue. The guys give their picks for Week 14, saying the Rams are not in rest mode just yet, as they try to win top seed in the NFC.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show looking at the impact of the injury to Emmanuel Sanders, and what that could do if you were relying on him to win your playoffs. Dane and Scott look at their playoff brackets, and question how Corey Parson could talk up about winning championships, when he ended up in last place in both of their leagues. The guys start talking about pass-catching running backs, and how Rashaad Penny could start seeing more volume in the strong Seattle running game, and how Russell Wilson could throw the most touchdown passes in the least amount of attempts. Talking with a caller, Dane and Scott question how LeSean McCoy could be considered a safe call, and say Justin Jackson could be a better RB value.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the program getting you ready for the start of the fantasy playoffs, and how you should attack your waivers; Scott warns though, most players you need are off the board, and you may be in hot water if you didn't get the right handcuffs. Looking at teams that didn't make the playoffs, Dane and Scott argue that those teams should not be allowed to go on waivers, and also wonder if there should be some sort of prize (I.E. 1st overall pick next season) for the teams in the consolation bracket. Looking ahead to Week 14, the guys question if Spencer Ware can give you the same RB1 value that you would have gotten with Kareem Hunt, and question if someone like Sony Michel is someone to show more confidence in come playoff match-ups. The guys question if Kelvin Benjamin, freshly cut from the Bills, will latch on with a playoff team, and if Zay Jones can be a viable fantasy option down the stretch.

Dane Martinez and Scott Engel open the show with Scott talking about the enjoyment he had in Seattle, seeing the northwest for the first time, and watching his Seahawks beat down on the 49ers. Looking at last night's game, the guys think that now that Colt McCoy is done with a fractured fibula, the Redskins can officially be called done. On the other side, Scott and Dane agree that with Darren Sproles getting a touchdown last night, the Eagles are back to a running back committee.

Dane Martinez and George Kurtz open the program looking at the main headline from Sunday, seeing the Packers fire head coach Mike McCarthy, and question which coach will be able to get along with Aaron Rodgers. Dane and George, both James Conner owners, express their concern for the fact that even though he was able to walk off an ankle injury, there is still reason to sweat as Conner goes for an MRI. The guys look at how Jameis Winston showed he can be a solid quarterback without making turnovers, but Dane warns that Winston could be "smoke and mirrors."
