The jury in the trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin returned a guilty verdict on all three counts that were brought forth, being second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter, thus convicting the former office in the murder of George Floyd. The killing that was caught on video and the protests that took place as a result shook the world and our politics over the course of the last year. For more reaction on the guilty verdicts from Bay Area political leaders, San Francisco Mayor, London Breed, joins the program. She spoke with KCBS Radio news anchors, Jeff Bell and Patti Reising, along with KCBS Radio reporter, Margie Shafer, with her thoughts about the conviction and what it means for our country and the family of George Floyd.

Later this month, the Biden-Harris Administration will hit the 100 day mark.  Traditionally, the first 100 days of a new Administration are seen as the time of great activity and setting of priorities for a new President.  There continues to be a lot of talk about this new Administration and what comes next for it.

Governor Newsom has continued his travels up and down the state this week, visiting vaccination sites and schools as he oversees the pandemic response. Newsom also signed a massive wildfire prevention package ahead of what’s sure to be a dry summer.

Vaccine eligibility expands throughout the state today; now anyone over the age of 16 can get an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine. But the massive expansion isn’t without it’s speed bumps. It comes as new data is telling us more about the effectiveness of the vaccines.
