December 23, 2023 Ep 105: One Horse Open Sleigh (Christmas Story) by Dr. Bryan Gill
“One Horse Open Sleigh” by Dr. Bryan Gill is inspired by the original lyrics of “Jingle Bells,” that read, “A day or two ago, I thought I'd take a ride And soon, Miss Fanny Bright Was seated by my side…” Bryan wrote this story about two little girls and a mahogany Clydesdale that loved nothing more than pulling a shiny red sleigh in the snow. The horse changes the lives of the little girls, but that’s not the only transformation that takes place. Enjoy this story that takes a peek into the fictional life of the iconic Christmas card image of a horse-drawn sleigh.

November 22, 2023 Ep 101: Josh Spielmaker: Arkansas Fly fishing Guide, Hat maker, And Educator
Josh Spielmaker is a 33-year resident of North Arkansas. He has been married to his wife, Kristie, for 25 years, and together, they have three exceptional children. After a long career in construction and later aircraft refurbishment, he works with special needs students at Prism North America, a faith-based K-12 private school in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Josh has always had a love of the outdoors. He and his wife made traditions of national park trips with their children as they grew. About six years ago, he was diagnosed with adult-onset fly fishing obsession, and these days, you will likely find him tying flies or on the boat fishing with his wife or any random good friend. Josh is also a regular guest on the Bear Grease podcast, where he is a faithful apologist of the sport of Fly Fishing.
In this episode, we take the reins off and free Josh to gush about fly fishing as much as he wants to, as well as many other exciting topics. Josh shares his love for craftmanship in making hats and tying flies and how skills over the course of a lifetime lead to new skills and hobbies. We also discuss the outstanding work they are doing there with the students at Prism North America. We hope you enjoy this episode and our conversation with Josh.

November 08, 2023 Ep 99: Rowell Guevarra and Murph on the Fly: The Oars Foundation
In this episode, we had the chance to sit down at Float Alabama with First Sergeant Rowell Guevarra and Sergeant Christopher Murphy after a long day of fishing on the Tallapoosa River. We discussed what it means to live a life of purpose and meaning as well as the many ways these men give of their time to make the lives of others better. These men have served their country well by their time in the military and continue to serve men and women with their gifts of hospitality by providing memorable experiences on the water. We wanted to honor these veterans this week where we recognize Veterans Day and we hope you will as well by supporting their philanthropic efforts. If you enjoy this episode, share it with a friend who would as well. And be sure to support the amazing organizations these me represent.
