“Changing the way that people engage with food” that's what Agni does. Today we have Miriam Cruz and Astrid Schanz-Garbassi, Co-Founders of Agni, a food healing company.
They each saw the opportunity for a brand like Agni but from two different perspectives. Astrid was working in healthcare to help patients reduce their dependence on medications, while Miriam had seen from the consumer's side with her health journey. Miriam and Astrid have built the business internally and as a reflection of how they want to see the world.
The brand has a mission to help one hundred million people to heal through food by 2030. But there are challenges. Securing the supply chain has been challenging but nowadays, messaging is more of a challenge to them. Still, the company is passionate about providing solutions for women's health problems.
In part 1, they talked about:
* Gratefulness * Overview of the brand * Their backgrounds * Agni teammates * Their challenges * Women's health
Join Ramon Vela, Miriam Cruz, and Astrid Schanz-Garbassi as they break down the inside story on The Story of a Brand.

“Created out of necessity,” Lilian says the brand saw a need for snacks that were easy to consume and purchase and were made with only “good stuff.” Today we have Lilian Umurungi-Jung, the Founder and owner of Mumgry, a plant-based snack food company.
Lilian used to work at a tech and gaming company during the time she was pregnant in 2018. She found it frustrating not being able to find the right snack for herself at the grocery store. And in one moment of frustration, she uttered the word, “Mumgry” which she later used as the brand's name.
She experimented with nut butter to create a recipe without sugar, salt, and just plant-based. According to Lilian, the plant-based pantry is growing, and there's still a new world of plant-based foods to explore.
She talks about:
* Gratefulness towards her husband * Overview of the brand * Her story behind the word 'Mumgry' * Transitioning to plant-based

“You don't need to be the one doing the creativity,” says Tim. “What's important is the ability to put people together.” In the second part, Tim Parr, Founder and CEO of Caddis, suggests The Longevity Economy by Joseph F. Coughlin.
Tim mentions the massive gap between buyers and the marketing directed to particular groups. He faced complications in his journey due to wrong things existing in the system. He tells Caddis’ goal has always been to create something that influential people can recognize as something different and unique.
In recent times, a lot of people are embracing the age factor, especially women. There's a lot of examples in health and wellness but not much in the eyewear lifestyle category. The brand is coming up with new designs, collaboration, and funding music education in schools.
Here he talks about:
* Huge potential market * Accepting aging * Systemic problem * Caddis products * Creativity * Their website * What's next

“To make aging cool,” that's the mission of Caddis. Today we have Tim Parr, the Founder and CEO of Caddis, a corrective eyewear brand.
Tim was a guitar player before starting Caddis, and even before playing music, he worked in brand strategy consulting. He had a bicycle as well as an apparel company. Caddis began as a reading glass company but has evolved into a lifestyle brand on a mission to make “aging cool.”
According to him, raising money was one of the most challenging parts. With the coming of a lead investor, the brand's progress became easier. He mentions that when he realized that they were not in the reading glass business rather the age business where glasses are the door prize. This epiphany was a game-changer for him.
In the first half, he talks about:
* Gratefulness * Overview of the brand * What pushed him * Bluegrass music * Did his creative background helped him * Challenges * Why is lead investor was critical for momentum * Game changer

“To take the time to invest in ourselves, that's the lesson Adam learned in the pandemic.” In the second half, Adam Bridegan, Co-Founder of Made In, former CMO of Rhone, and Founder of Gaylord says that Covid was a blessing in disguise.
Covid made him think about what he wanted from life, and he even read Dale Carnegie’s “How to Start Living and Stop Worrying.” Implementing a strategy from the book called “stop-loss control” was a light bulb moment for him.
After leaving Rhone, Adam wanted to do things he was not making time for before. So, he went to North Carolina, where he grew up, and met friends he had not seen in years. He helped and gave free advice to entrepreneurs. Eventually, he realized that he wanted a change; he wanted to use his experience and expertise to help other entrepreneurs in their journey. This has turned into his latest endeavor, the formation of Gaylord.
He talks about:
* How Covid was a blessing * His light bulb moment * Lesson from pandemic * What was he thinking * How to see the positives of this experience
