Episode 46 of Season 5 aired on Rebel Rock radio at 7 pm on 17 Nov 2022. The show started a bit differently for a change. Instead of the usual full-throttle Rock ‘n’ Roll we eased in with the classic ‘Judas’ version of Bob Dylan's brilliant ‘Like a Rolling Stone’. From there we went with ‘Squealer’, one of the early ACDC tracks off Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. It was decided that if you could have a night on the town with one of the dead rock stars then Bon Scott would be a seriously good guy to pick. From there some Black Spiders off Sons of the North and then off to Aussie for a band called Catelano, the track was ‘Saturday Night’, cool track, good times.
We checked out some Texas Hippie Coalition and a track called ‘Pissed Off and Mad About It’ and that morphed into a bit of Chickenfoot. Joe Satriani showed once again just how brilliant he is when he is in a kick-ass band. Def Leppard went down well with a track called 'All We Need' off their latest album Diamond Star Halos. It went a bit soft with Courtney Love and Hole not shouting and smashing things so I fixed that with Zakk Wylde, Buckcherry, Overkill, and Parkway Drive. For a change, we played a track by Ghost called ‘Twenties’ and then had three in a row while I had to take care of some work stuff, the joys of running a factory on night shift ☹. The three were from Motörhead, The Dead Daisies, and Sons of Liberty, out of Bristol in the UK nogal.
We checked out the new Rebel Rock Jingle kindly recorded by Prawn of Diverted Disorder and then we took a listen to 'Destroyed by Fate' (Feat Jared Gunston) by Diverted Disorder. The Color Blew with Liaan Horton on vocals and Timothy James on guitar kept the SA music flag high with a track called 'O.D'. From there it was four serious rock tracks from Devils Train, Badlands, Iron Allies, and Skid Row. The new Skid Row, The Gang’s All Here is so good, its heading for a top ten finish for TSORR best albums of 2022. Last week we missed the Punk section so I fixed it this week with Stiff Little Fingers and The Clash and then we played ‘Ain’t It Fun’, the classic written by the guys in Rocket From The Tomb but who went off to record it in The Dead Boys and then later the definitive version done by G’n’R, this version is live and right on the edge, if you don’t get it, it's not for you as Billy Connelly once said. It was fitting to go to Neil Young with 'Powderfinger' and then Johnathan Martins's amazing cover of Neil's ‘Cortez the Killer’. The wheels came off at the end where I lost the plot and had a mirth attack about Sakis Tolis and we finished loud with My Chemical Romance and Slipknot.
Artists featured: Bob Dylan, ACDC, Black Spiders, Catelano, Ratt, Texas Hippie Coalition, Chickenfoot, Def Leppard, Hole, Leslie West Tribute (feat Zakk Wylde), Buckcherry, Overkill, Parkway Drive, Ghost, Thunder, Motörhead, The Dead Daisies, Sons of Liberty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Live, Diverted Disorder, The Color Blew, Devil’s Train, Badlands, Iron Allies, Skid Row, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, Rocket From the Tombs, Dave Hause, Warren Zevon, Johnathan Martin, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Sakis Tolis, My Chemical Romance, Slipknot.

Episode 45 of Season 5 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 10 Nov 2022. The show kicked off with ACDC and a track off Let There Be Rock called ‘Overdose’. From there we continued with Black Stone Cherry, Def Leppard, and White Zombie. We went into the ‘00s and cranked the Nu Metal with Drowning Pool and the title track off the Sinner album, the one that gave the world 'Bodies' and 'Broken Home' off Papa Roach’s Infest album. Strangely enough, we went from that into some mellow blues, courtesy of Popa Chubby and ZZ Top with Trouble and Blue Jean Blues respectively. It was the Papa to Popa connection that did it.
From the Blues, we checked out Iron Maiden and another track off Power Slave called ‘Back In the Village’. Herman Frank, ex of Accept got a look-in with a track off his latest album Two For a Lie. We stayed in Germany for some Rammstein and a bit later 'Blackout' from Scorpions, another song written about Eskom. A highlight of the show was the back-to-back pairing of Tony Martin and Joe Lynn Turner, two vocalists who have played in the best bands in the world and have both released solo alums in the last 12 months. Joe Lynn Turner has Peter Tägtgren producing and doing the guitar work and it is one hell of a combination. We had some more Nu Metal courtesy of Limp Bizkit and then used Courtney Love’s band Hole, with a track called 'Rock Star' to lead us into a quick farewell and RIP to Nazareth’s Dan McCafferty who passed away this week. As explained on the show Nazareth are a very special band to those of us growing up in the '70s and '80s and we thanked Dan for writing and performing some awesome classic songs.
We took in 'When Your Love is Gone' by Assie legend Jimmy Barnes and then spent nearly nine minutes on the Thin Lizzy classic ‘Still In Love With You’. It came off the Live album called Life and features all the Thin Lizzy guitarists Eric Bell, Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson, Gary Moore, Snowy White, and John Sykes. Texas Hippie Coalition moved the show out of the ballads and Night Ranger and Queensrÿche continued the excellent medicine and took it to the next level. The new Queensrÿche, Digital Noise Alliance' is fantastic, check it out. This show just had too much material and not enough time. We tipped the hat to Judas Priest for their well-deserved and long overdue inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we listened to another awesome Vivian Campbell solo and heard how powerful Andrew Freeman is on a track called ‘Year of The Gun’ and we squeezed in an amazingly emotional track from My Chemical Romance called 'The World is Ugly'. The consensus on the chat was that MCR are correct on this point. Cheers all, see you next week, I hope you enjoy the episode.

Episode 44 of season 5 aired on 3 November 2022 at 7 pm sharp on Rebel Rock Radio. It was a cracker of an episode with plenty of new albums and plenty of rock from around the world. First out the blocks we had The Beatles' classic ‘Day Tripper’ off a tribute to The Beatles album called Butchering the Beatles. This track featured Jack Blades, Tommy Shaw, and Doug Aldrich and it’s a guitar fest of note. From there we heard from Guns ‘n’ Roses with a live version of ‘Pretty Tied Up’ followed by a band called Paradox and a track of their excellent album Pangea called 'Cheat and Pretend'.
We mixed in the legends with the newer artists by taking a track off Ozzy Osbourne’s new album Patient Number 9 and following Oz with Dead City Ruins and a track called “Drifter’. We heard a track off Herman Franks' 2021 release Two For a Lie. Texas Hippie Coalition went down well as did another track off the Phil X and the Drills EP called Stupid Good Looking, Vol 1. There was a lot from Germany on the show, totally unplanned but along with Paradox we had Scorpions, Iron Allies, Herman Frank, on his own and in Iron Allies, and also Rammstein with their strange tune known as B*********.
The SA music came from Jasper Dan, Ross Harding, and L.A. Cobra and then we took in the new Skid Row and a track off Feel It Live which is a live album recorded by The Stranglers in 2013 when they were on Tour promoting the Giants album, the first with Hugh Cornwells replacement Baz Warne in the band. The end was nice and heavy with Eluveitie, Soilwork, and Lamb of God. From Lamb of God we went to Neil Young in that typical extreme contrasting style that TSORR is known and loved for. Thanks for listening, please share the podcast with anyone who may be interested and you can contact TSORR on the website or Facebook page.

Episode 43 kicked off at 19h00 on 27 Oct 2022 live on Rebel Rock Radio. We got straight into it with a track off one of the best live albums ever released, Bruce Springsteen’s Live 1975 to ’85, and a track called ‘Spirit in the Night’. From there it was time for some Thin Lizzy followed by Aussie rockers Airbourne and a track called ‘No Way But the Hard Way'. It was good to hear Kim Mitchell’s killer track ‘Go For Soda' again. It should a staple on all those one-hit-wonder compilation albums. From there we went to ‘Hear About it Later' off Van Halen’s Fairwarning album, Dave Lee Roth at his languid best. As always, it has to be said that Eddie Van Halen left a hole that cannot be filled.
Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown made a welcome return to TSORR with a track called 'Fuel' off their Pressure album. Load shedding has hit internet radio hard causing one of TSORR's greatest supporters to be absent for a few weeks. On this episode he was tuned in, so we caught up on a few of his besties, Space Lord by Monster Magnet, 'Dead Again' from Buckcherry and then some Marilyn Manson and Type O negative to round it out. We stayed in the M’s and went heavy with Machine Head and a stunning track off the new Megadeth called ‘Mission To Mars’.
There were a couple of birthdays to celebrate, Tom Petty would have been 72 last week, KK Downing is 71 today and SA guitar maestro Richard Pryor had a birthday yesterday. We heard from all of them. It was great to check out some vintage Iron Maiden in the form of ‘ Children of The Damned. From there Diverted Disorder bought some heaviness to the proceedings. Hailing from the Vaal, this 4-Piece are making waves with their awesome style of in their own words “Alternative, Rock, Blues blended with Trash, core, and Death Metal to create melodic perfection”. We stayed in SA with Shadowclub and a track called 'Good Morning Killer'. The aforementioned SA guitar maestro Richard Pryor's solo project Pebbleman got a look in with a track called ‘Searching’. Halestorm, Thundermother, and an amazing bit of teamwork between Nita Strauss and Alissa White-Gluz gave the ladies some airtime. The Nita and Alissa track is called ‘The Wolf You Feed’ and it is really cool, check it out.
Following on from last week's Crowded House track we had a listen to Tim Finn's big hit 'I Got You' when he was still with Split Enz. The statute of limitations on God save the Queen is now over so we gave the Sex Pistols a chance and then checked out a brand new track from Blink 182, some Fall Out Boy, and a very moving track from My Chemical Romance called 'The Light Behind Your Eyes'.
Artists featured: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Thin Lizzy, Stone Sour, Audioslave, Kim Mitchell, Van Halen, Warrant, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, Monster Magnet, Buckcherry, Marilyn Manson, Type O Negative, Machine Head, Megadeth, Wonderboom, Pebbleman, Tom Petty &the Heartbreakers, John Mellencamp, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Halestorm, Thundermother, Nita Strauss & Alissa White-Gluz, Queensrÿche, Diverted Disorder, Shadowclub, Split Enz, Sex Pistols, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, U2, Foo Fighters, Overdrivers, Hinder, In Flames

Episode 42 of Season 5 kicked off at 19h00 on 20 Oct 2022. The show was live on Rebel Rock Radio and made up for last week's disaster after the lightning strike. Apologies again for that little abortion, it's nice to be back in control and with a new inverter to keep the load shedding at bay. The show kicked off with Accept and a track called “What’s Done is Done’ off The Rise of Chaos. Mark Tornillo on vocals and Wolf Hoffman on lead guitar. Then we took a listen to a band that was new to me called Dead City Ruins and a track called 'Preacher'. They’ve got four albums out and they hail from Australia. The classic rock flag flew for a while while we heard from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and ACDC before chilling to Audioslave with ‘Like a Stone’ and then ‘Rats’ from Pearl Jam. 'Like a Stone' hit a billion YouTube views this week so that was worth celebrating. We also checked out KISS with the seldom-played 'Do You Love Me'. This was off Kiss Alive IV and has Peter Criss on drums and Tommy Thayer on guitar, check out the interview I did with Tommy Thayer in the podcast list on 28 Nov 2019. What a nice guy.
The Johnny Kongos classic 'Tokoloshe Man', recorded back in 1971, sounded great and stands up well as did another South African classic from a band called Big Sky. We got into the heavier stuff with Motorhead and UFO and from there it was guitar time and a track from White Lion called 'Fight To Survive' featuring the amazing Vito Bratta on guitar. The story of Mike Slammer’s involvement with Warrant and Joey Allen, was briefly covered then we got into some metal courtesy of Claymorean and South Africa’s own Infanteria out of Cape Town and some more local music with Jasper Dan and Black Bone Nation.
This week the Punk came from the USA in the form of Green Day with 'Welcome to Paradise' off 1991's Kerplunk. We also heard a track, relevant to the whole world right now called "The Economy Is Suffering' by Anti-Flag. Dave Hause with his track 'Bearing Down' off Kick was a highlight for me and is pretty deep. In This Moment showed us all how good a rave could be if Maria Brink was running the show and we went heavy again with Parkway Drive and Megadeth. the show closed with Lamb of God and a track called 'Ditch' off their new album Omens. I said that we would play out with Slipknot but then changed my mind and did the LOG instead.
Artists featured: Accept, Cancer Bats, Dead City Ruins, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, ACDC, Black Label Society, Joe Bonamassa, Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Godsmack, KISS, Judas Priest, Johnny Kongos, Big Sky, Motörhead, Warrant, Anti-Flag, Green Day, Claymorean, Infanteria, Black Bone Nation, Jasper Dan, Crowded House, Dave Hause, In This Moment, Marilyn Manson, Parkway Drive, Megadeth, Tribute To Leslie West, Wonderboom, UK Subs, My Chemical Romance, Lamb of God

Well, this one did not go according to plan. Apologies upfront, you are only going to get 2 hours of TSORR and it gets more and more chaotic as we get closer to the end. In the middle of the show the house got struck by lightning and as a result, I tried to hold it together and bravely do a "The show must go on" type jol but it was not to be, more and more problems appeared as I searched for damage between songs. Cameras, electric fences, and irrigation system, it started to pile up, and eventually, it was irrecoverable.
The irony was playing Metallica's Ride The Lightning pretty much when it happened. Sorry to let you down folks, it was one of those things I'm afraid.
What you will get is: ACDC, Danko Jones, Mötley Crüe, Seether, Nevada Beach, Blackberry Smoke, Jethro Tull, W.A.S.P., Slash's Snakepit, Boston, Machine Head, John Mellencamp, Phillip Sayce, Q5, Michael Schenker Group, Iron Maiden. Metallica, Motörhead, The Halo Effect, Rush, The Pretty Reckless, Volbeat, System of A Down.

Episode 40 went out live on 6 Oct 2022 at 19h00 on rebel Rock radio. We kicked off with The Who and 'I’m Free' which was fitting seeing as I have just finished nearly three years of study and now have a lot more time to dedicate to The Story of Rock and Roll. It was a pretty laid-back start by TSORR standards featuring stuff by John Cougar, Black Stone Cherry, and Jimmy Barnes. The pace picked up with Motörhead and when we went to Germany to visit Rammstein and Scorpions with ‘Zwitter’ and ‘Wild Child' respectively.
The next part of the show covered some classic ’70 and ’80s stuff from Golden Earring and Pat Benetar. Instead of KISS we took a listen to a Gene Simmons track called ‘Living in Sin. We changed pace with some Billy Talent (no he is not singing “I gave my life to Satan” :-), listen carefully) and Matthew Good Band out of Canada. From there a good dose of Serbian Metal from Claymorean and then my current favourite thrash band out of San Franciso, Hell Fire, by now no strangers to this radio show. Check out their new album Reckoning.
The Punk came courtesy of The Clash, Die Toten Hosen, and Rancid, Carnival in Rio (Punk Was) went down very, very well. Pairing George Lynch and Jeff Beck back to back was a great idea, listen out for those solos on the Lynch Mob and Ozzy tracks.
We hit the final straight with some great new SA stuff, another band out of the Devo Oosthuizen stable, this week a band called Forth Son South, and then we had Code 106 from their Alium EP. From there some Springbok Nude Girls and classic Fokofpolisiekar. A highlight of the show was a quick little tribute to the amazing Eddie Van Halen who passed away 2 years ago to the day. You’ll always be special to me Eddie RIP and thank you for everything.
The ending was also very cool, we went acoustic with Rush, off Rush in Rio, and a track called 'Resist' and then Live with ‘Overcome’, recorded live in Amsterdam at the Paradiso. we then finished off with a bit of Neil Young and out with Megadeth off the new album The Sick, The Dying.......and The Dead.
Artists featured: The Who, Fozzy, Black Sabbath, Jimmy Barnes, John Cougar, Black Stone Cherry, Motörhead, Rammstein, Great White, Scorpions, Pat Benetar, Seether, Stone Sour, Gene Simmons, Golden Earring, Billy Talent, Matthew Good Band, Pixies, Claymorean, Hell Fire, Led Zeppelin, Nibs Van Der Spuy, Eddie Van Halen, Van Halen, Die Toten Hosen, The Clash, Rancid, Kid Rock, Lynch Mob, Ozzy Osbourne, Kane Roberts, Fourth Son South, Code 106, Springbok Nude Girls, Fokofpolisiekar, My Chemical Romance, Linkin park, Rush, Live, Neil Young, Asphyx, Megadeth

Episode 39 of Season 5 went out live at 7 pm sharp on 29 Sept 2022. As usual, the show was hosted by Rebel Rock Radio. We got going with Jorn and a track called 'Some Day They Will Put Out the Sun’, it was agreed that if it was in Soth Africa it would have been out long ago, or broken, or lost. Next up Hell Fire out of San Fransisco, a truly wonderful band with a track called Cities Ablaze off their 2nd album called Free Again. From there a bit Sevendust with ‘Black’ and Last In Line with ‘Already Daed’ with Vivian Campbell playing like he used to in Dio, which is fitting as they are Dio but without Ronnie James Dio.
We went back to the early ’70s circa 71/72 and listened to Mott The Hoople Cover the Lou Reed classic ‘Sweet Jane’, which led to Neil Young’s ‘Sugar Mountain’, sweet thing geddit? A new track from Billy Idol off his new EP The Cage went down well, as did a new track off Ozzy Osbournes latest album Patient #9. We listened to 'Immortal' featuring Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCreedy. Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan in Mr Big reminded us just how well bass and lead can fit together.
We took another new track off Five Finger Death Punch’s latest album AfterLife. Germany got a look in with Die Toten Hosen and ‘Alles Wir Gut’. We carried on with last week's discovery, a band called Sumerlands, and then went off in a classic rock direction with 'Riders On the Storm' specially dedicated to one of TSORR’s much-appreciated listeners ho lost a family member this week :-(.
We had tracks from The Stranglers and The Jam, it's just punk by virtue of the time the bands were formed and their history but I consider them truly iconic rock bands. The ladies were represented by Brody Dalle and her band The Distillers with ‘The Hunger’ and The Donna’s and a track called ‘Who Invited You’. The South African stuff came from When Angels Came, Francois Van Coke, and Fire Horses. After that, we checked out the debut album from My Chemical Romance and a track called 'Headfirst For Halos' which is really cool. We finished heavy with In Flames, Arch Enemy and Slayer.
Artists featured: Jorn, Hell Fire, Sevendust, Tremonti, Last In Line, Mott The Hoople, Neil Young, Mr Big, Tygers of Pan Tang, Rush, Billy Idol, Black Spiders, Alice In Chains, Bush, Anvil Black Veil Brides, Die Toten Hosen, Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, Sumerlands, Rob Zombie, The Doors, Live, The Stranglers, The Jam, Parkway Drive, Venom, The Donna’s, The Distillers, When Angels Came, Fire Horses, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, in Flames, Arch Enemy, Slayer

Episode 38 kicked off at 19h00 on Thursday 22 Sept 2022 on Rebel Rock Radio. First up Guns ‘n’ Roses with ‘You could Be Mine’. from back in the day when G ‘n’ R were the hottest band in the world. Next up Rainbow, off Rising and the opening track 'Tarot Woman'. It was pretty much hard rock with bands like Tesla and The Four Horsemen all the way through until some Jethro Tull which made a nice change. The track we heard was 'One Brown Mouse' off Heavy Horses. From there we went bluesy with Samantha Fish and Frank Marino. The requests for more led to Joe Bonamassa with 'Hanging on a Loser' off his latest album Time Clocks.
We checked out a real biker, biker band in the form of Chrome Division and then went heavy with Sepultura and their cover of Motörhead’s ‘Orgasmatron’ with the amazing Derrick Green on vocals. I did screw up a bit, I wasn't sure if Derrick was Brazilian, he isn't, he's American, born in Cleveland in 1971, six foot five weighing 110 kg. That should fix the bungled and botched attempt on the record.
The next bit of the show I really enjoyed. Two metal bands I had never heard of one called Sumerlands and another called Claymorean got some airtime. They are playing what is known as classic metal. Claymorean are out of Serbia and Sumerlands I am not sure. We will be hearing more from these band in the future. Tanks to Loudwire for thise two gems. New stuff came from Ozzy Osbourne, Parkway Drive, and Desolation Angels. We got our weekly dose of UK Punk courtesy of Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, and The Jam.
Because there is so much good metal out there right now we kept on going with a new track from In Flames called The Great Deceiver, this is a huge return to form in my view. There was time to visit the ‘80s with Mõtley Crüe and ‘Girls, Girls, Girls' and then some Kiss off Lick It Up and ‘All Hell’s Breaking Loose. Hole and The Pretty Reckless represented the ladies and then it was time once again for Rush. I am currently Rush befok and there is no obvious sign of abatement. It feels like we've had Rush for 7 weeks in a row now.
The wheels came off a little bit at the end, some bottled-up anger and a tribute to the Rebels at Rebel Rock Radio who work hard doing what they love whether people listen to it or not. So we went out heavy, heavy with Arch Enemy, Dirty Little Rabbits, and Eye of the Enemy.
Artists featured: Guns ‘n’ Roses, Rainbow, Slash’s Snake Pit, Tesla, The Four Horseman, The L.A. Maybe, Q5, Jethro Tull, Frank Marino, Samantha Fish, Joe Bonamassa, Chrome Division, Sepultura, Manegarm, Claymorean, Sumerlands, Stiff little Fingers, The Clash, the Jam, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Parkway Drive, In Flames, Desolation Angels, Hole, The Pretty Reckless, Rush, The Who, Warren Zevon, Faster Pussycat, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Five Finger Death Punch, Arch Enemy, Dirty Little Rabbits, Eye of the Enemy.
