You show to everything you're supposed, you complete the tasks you know you HAVE to do each day, reply to the emails, the texts and return phone calls, but something just doesn't feel "right".
You're frustrated because you just can't seem to be a self starter anymore, every thing you once loved feels "meh" or "blah" and you don't love the things you once did. Is it BurnOut? Possibly, but also, you're stuck.
You're stuck in a functional freeze where you're showing up and doing the thing, but its the "Extras" the "wants" you have that never seem to get started.
You aren't being lazy. Just frozen in this fake rest. Here's what we talk about doing to get out of it:
1. Make your world smaller- focus on one task at a time. What can I do in the next 10 minutes.
2. Regulate before you motivate- Go outside for a few minutes, turn off the phone and TV and sit with just your self.
3. Lower the bar. A LOT!- if your 45 minute workout feels too much, then just do one set per exercise at a high output. It'll help jumpstart something!
4.Reduce your input altogether- PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN! literally, set a timer for your scrolling and put the phone down when it goes off. Or find a lock box for your phone on Amazon where it auto-unlocks after the selected timeframe.
5. Be HONEST with yourself- You are NOT lazy- just mentally overwhelmed and overloaded. Give grace, but not so much that it becomes a crutch. Then some tough love and get moving!
Burnout, overwhelm, shame, and guilt hit us all at one point in time when we feel stuck in a rut. But, these feelings are temporary and we can move them however necessary to make ourselves feel better.
