You always tell yourself you are going to be better, more consistent, more "on top of it", You're simply going to be better than you were yesterday or last week.
Then the time comes for you to do it...
And you don't. Something comes up that takes your focus away or maybe even, you just feel totally overwhelmed with what you've set up for yourself. So you don't follow through.
That failure to follow through causes you to not trust yourself in just about every other area of your life. And when you don't trust yourself, you don't believe in yourself.
And if you don't believe in yourself, it's hard to feel confident in yourself and all the skills you've gained, worked hard for and honed to perfection.
In order to trust yourself again, you have to show up and be reliable for you and your goals and dreams just like you show up for the loved ones in your life. Regardless of if anyone else "gets it", agrees with it, or champions it for you. You have to stand up for you and make you the priority to regain your own trust and self-worth.

Oh, My, Gosh- Im so overwhelmed, I know I should be doing XYZ, but, I'm stuck on the couch doom scrolling.
Sound familiar? The more we mentally and verbally punish ourselves for our quick fixes not working, not getting ourselves moving, not getting our list done, the more we shutdown, then the more we feel guilt and shame because WE KNOW BETTER.
Instead, let's break this cycle in 5 easy steps.
1 Catch it Early- notice the beginning stages and feelings of overwhelm
2 Shrink the focus - bring your list of 10 things that need to get done and only focus on one for a manageable block of time
3 Replace the guilt with data - what was the final thing that made me feel overwhelmed, aka - the straw that broke the camels back
4 Built softer consistency - complete small repeatable actions that build consistency rather than one day of dramatic resets
5 STOP trying to earn rest - Allow yourself time to relax, celebrate, ground, and be happy. Take the small rests now instead of a complete burnout rest that gets us back to the same "stuck" place.

WE ALL DO IT! We all downgrade our accomplishments, downgrade our beauty (internal and external) play down all the great things about us and every thing we do. Self deprecation is a nasty tool we use to keep ourselves down.
Negative self-talk is the umbrella under which self-deprecation stands. We talk bad about ourselves so that when someone else does it, it doesn't hurt as much, because no one can hurt me as bad as. i hurt myself, right?
I've said it before, YOU ARE NOT LAZY. You never were. The issue is, you talk yourself into this state of laziness because of past experiences. You have to make the choice TODAY to learn from the past to move forward.

Have you ever looked in a mirror and wondered who the person was looking back at you? Chances are, you have, and you have also felt like something was wrong with you personally because of course that's YOU in the mirror. Yet, you don't quite recognize her because you thought you'd be "farther along" in life.
First of all... stop. Breathe. Theres nothing wrong with you. You are in a place of stuck-ness. BUT- being stuck simply means you are at a new starting place. You get to grow through whatever this place is and make something better for yourself.

You know you're overwhelmed, but guess what, that awareness doesn't change anything.
You keep saying " I know what I need to do, but, I'm just not doing it" on repeat and that leads you to more stress, shame, guilt, and pressure.
Let's be honest here, you aren't stuck because you're lazy, you are stuck because your old habits are keeping you overwhelmed.
You trying to fix the overwhelm, the over stimulation, the chronic stress and shame is leading to more more pressure and that is backfiring on you!
You don't need more motivation. You need a different approach.
Tell me below what small changes you are making in your life today.

How many times have you said, "I'll be happy when I..."? Honestly, more times that I can count. But why not be happy now?
This came to me recently, and I caught myself saying it one day, "Why can't i just be happy!!" Then I got home, looked at my house and realized this is what I prayed, begged, and cried for. I have it now! Why am I not happy with it!
Being happy for what we have right now is not a bad thing. We get to be happy for what we have. I shouldn't have to worry about what anyone else thinks of me and my life. If I am happy, I should be able to show it and share it.
If someone else has feelings about how much i love my life and how happy I am, if it makes them feel anything other than happy for me, then they aren't my people and I don't need to expend any energy on them.
My life = my happiness. You don't have to like it for me to love it.

You show to everything you're supposed, you complete the tasks you know you HAVE to do each day, reply to the emails, the texts and return phone calls, but something just doesn't feel "right".
You're frustrated because you just can't seem to be a self starter anymore, every thing you once loved feels "meh" or "blah" and you don't love the things you once did. Is it BurnOut? Possibly, but also, you're stuck.
You're stuck in a functional freeze where you're showing up and doing the thing, but its the "Extras" the "wants" you have that never seem to get started.
You aren't being lazy. Just frozen in this fake rest. Here's what we talk about doing to get out of it:
1. Make your world smaller- focus on one task at a time. What can I do in the next 10 minutes.
2. Regulate before you motivate- Go outside for a few minutes, turn off the phone and TV and sit with just your self.
3. Lower the bar. A LOT!- if your 45 minute workout feels too much, then just do one set per exercise at a high output. It'll help jumpstart something!
4.Reduce your input altogether- PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN! literally, set a timer for your scrolling and put the phone down when it goes off. Or find a lock box for your phone on Amazon where it auto-unlocks after the selected timeframe.
5. Be HONEST with yourself- You are NOT lazy- just mentally overwhelmed and overloaded. Give grace, but not so much that it becomes a crutch. Then some tough love and get moving!
Burnout, overwhelm, shame, and guilt hit us all at one point in time when we feel stuck in a rut. But, these feelings are temporary and we can move them however necessary to make ourselves feel better.

Self-care is not a once in a while thing to do when you're feeling a type of way. It is a necessity to remind yourself of your own inherent worth and deservingness.
It doesn't have to be expensive days at the salon or spa. It can truly be as simple as the ideas listed below:
Revisit a childhood hobby (coloring, puzzles, crafts)
Celebrate a small win — something you usually dismiss.
Sit with a cup of coffee or tea for 15 minutes without your phone
Say “no” to one thing you don’t actually want to do.
Leave a conversation that drains you
Stop over-explaining yourself.
Sit outside and get sunlight for 10 minutes.
Take a slow walk with no destination.
Listen to music with headphones and close your eyes.
Do a body scan meditation.
Review your finances and make a plan.
Apply for a job that scares you a little.
Start a creative project.
Declutter 10 items from your house.
Pray or meditate
Write a gratitude list for the day
Spend time in nature without headphones.
Taking care of yourself is often misconstrued as time intensive, expensive and a luxury. You can absolutely make it a luxury for yourself, but it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg or your own sanity and peace of mind.

Have you ever felt the "what if I had done..." and realized that you let FEAR get in your way?
Have you ever wanted to tell someone "NO" but you let the fear of losing them keep you from putting yourself first?
Have you ever wanted something SO BAD, but you've never done it before and its outside your comfort zone so you just ler it go without even trying?
It's time that we left fear at the door and started making choices outside of our comfort zone. Only then will our comfort zone grow and we can continue stepping outside and finally live the life we have always dreamed of.

Playing small hasn't gotten me anywhere. The only time I know I have felt myself actually grow mentally and emotionally is when I stood up and did something that I originally felt I had no place doing.
Taking up space doesn't mean being loud, irrational, pushy, arrogant or anything like that. Its being intentional with your time, words, feelings, and actions. It ACTUALLY getting into the room and being heard. It is speaking up when you aren't being taken seriously. It is getting away from being a wallflower in life and taking main character energy back.
Quit playing small to make anyone else happy. Do the things that YOU actually want to do. Take up the space you deserve to have.
You belong in any room you want to be in.
