Everything has its season and every season has a beginning and an end. This is one of the latter.
This will be the final episode of The Survivor's Guide to Thriving Podcast.
While there are plenty of new and exciting things happening at MJST (so stay tuned!), this will be the end of this particular project. The SG2T Podcast has taught us a lot over the last four years...and we hope it's taught you something as well!
In this final conversation, Mark Jewell interviews Amanda Sollman, who is also ending her season on the MJST team as she heads on to the next great adventure. Mark asks Amanda for her reflections and advice on:
And more!
Whether this is your first episode or the 139th, thank you for listening to The Survivor's Guide to Thriving Podcast!
Show NotesAre you a big picture thinker who's just kind of 'meh' about the specifics? Are you a leader who subscribes to the "done is better than perfect" philosophy? Do you thrive on building the plane as you fly it? Are you someone who is all about experimenting and shifting gears as you go along?
If so, awesome! This episode is specifically for you!
Because today, I want to talk to you about me! Well, not me exactly but rather, people like me.
Detail people. Self-described perfectionists. People with high standards for exactly how things should look, sound, feel and get done. Those of us who cling to rules and systems and processes like a life-preserver.
Today, I want to give you a peak behind the curtain into the world of your detail folks and share why, especially as a leader and teammate who has a different working style, I believe it's so important to pay attention to and actively support this type of employee.

Are you one of the tens of thousands of people who got to learn how to work at home in the last 6-8 weeks? Are you also one of the thousands of people who has gotten completely burnt out and overwhelmed on video meetings?
You're not alone!
While video meetings are great tools for remote workers (and were helpful in creating face-to-face interaction during quarantine), too much of a good thing can be…well, too much.
So, in this episode, Amanda and MarkSteven sit down to talk about:

Learning to work remotely often comes with a steep learning curve! How do I best stay in communication with my team? How do I make sure I don't miss a deadline? Where can I access all of our files? No matter what we like to imagine, working from home is NOT the exact same thing as working in an office – especially when it comes to the nuts and bolts of doing your work.
Today, Amanda digs into why it's SO important to be purposeful about the tools you use to get work done when you're running a virtual team. She also shares things to consider when picking the tools and apps your team will use, and the MJST team's favorite platforms that keep us productive and save us from driving each other crazy.

One of the most common conversations we have in coaching sessions is around relationships. We're social beings and we depend on our relationships functioning well in order to experience connection, personal satisfaction and professional success. No matter how independent we think we are, we have to work and live with other people – so when those relationships aren't functioning, we've got issues.
And, while it may sound cliché, the thing at the center of many of these relationship challenges is often one thing: communication.
In this episode, Amanda shares three common communication mistakes we all fall victim to from time-to-time – and how we can practice moving through them.
