The role of arts and icons in times of crisis. On 19 February 2013, The Sustainable Hour on 94.7 The Pulse looked into what the role of arts and icons could in times of crisis - the climate change crisis as well as the employment crisis which Geelong's residents are experiencing at the moment, with one major workplace after the other announcing that it will be closing down, throwing thousands of citizens into unemployment. Today we talked with two musicians, a film director, a leader of the Earthworker initiative, and the lawyer who wishes to see Geelong power itself up with a crowdfunded Sea Dragon. Anna Boddenberg explains about the production of the Australian documentary film 'Mining the Truth', and lawyer Andrew Senia, who initiated the competion 'Icon for Geelong', demonstrates the winner, the windpowered Sea Dragon.

Energy, people and power. The Sustainable Hour embarks on an 'Eco-Energy Quest' together with Surf Coast councillor Eve Fisher who just returned from a study tour which took her to the United States, Canada, Germany and Denmark to look at options for community renewable energy generation. She met with leaders of a people-powered energy reform, and in Colorado she saw the consequences of fracking.

On 29 January 2014, The Sustainable Hour on 94.7 The Pulse had three guests in the radio studio to give the listeners the lastest news about various sustainable community initiatives in Geelong region: Goshen Watts, Transition South Barwon (0:00-12:00), Leo Renkin, 94.7 The Pulse (16:00-28:00), and Suzette Jackson, Innate Ecology (32:00-45:00)

They talked about Transition groups, the Sustainability Expo 'Discover Solutions', contemplations over installation of solar on the roof, the Sustainable Living Festival Geelong and its Sustainable Business Forum, Sustainable Food and Farm Entrepeneurs Forum, Sustainable House Forum, Edible Gardens Expo, and more.
