Julio Segundo Pérez Silva, born on July 15, 1963, is a Chilean taxi driver and convicted serial killer responsible for the rape and murder of at least 14 women and girls between 1998 and 2001. He is infamously referred to as "The Psychopath of Alto Hospicio," as his heinous acts occurred in the Tarapacá Region, particularly in the city of Iquique and the town of Alto Hospicio, which inspired his moniker. Pérez's method of operation was consistently the same. As a taxi driver, he would lure young women and girls with offers of complimentary rides, subsequently transporting them to isolated locations where he would assault and murder them by striking them in the head. Following the crimes, he disposed of the victims' bodies in deep, abandoned mines. He was ultimately convicted of the murders of 14 women and received a life sentence on February 26, 2004.
