Ian Barton - Lenovo Duet Review.

There is a full review on ChromeUnboxed of the all bells and whistles version. I bought the MediaTek P60T 128GB which cost £274 from Amazon. The first thing to note is that it uses an ARM chip not Intel. Overall I find I am using it regularly. On the settee, I use it in tablet mode without the keyboard. At breakfast time I attach the keyboard while I am sitting at the table. I will probably take it on holiday rather than a full-size Chromebook.

On the third day of Christmas my truelove ... broke her sony z4 tablet which in all honesty has been an excellent tablet in terms of quality and everything else. But now it's time for a replacement. It needs the portability of the Z4 ideally with equally good looks and ability plus storage and flexibility. No Apple products will be considered!

Xerxes Hodivala on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

I’ve tried the beta of cloud streaming Xbox games on Edge on a PC and on Safari on Mac in the last week. It’s superb! I was playing Halo colab with my son who was on the actual hardware Xbox and it works brilliantly. The best part is that any games you have already bought and installed on your Xbox become available for streaming play. I presume this is dependent on MS having the rights to stream the game on the service which I suppose could become an issue in the future as it has recently for GEForce Now. Very much worth a look. A one month trial of Game Pass Ultimate is currently available for £1.

Aidan and I have one and Gareth does not! Still use mine all the time, so does Aidan. The v2 is more expensive but does more stuff - but not much more! This is a great price. I’d actually like the Loupedeck Live now! £199 but it looks more fun!

Chad Dixon on Canon IXUS 40

It was my first time ever using a digital camera and lining up a shot without a viewfinder felt quite odd to start with. However, I loved the compactness of it and the novelty of immediately seeing the shot you had just taken on the back screen. Also the fact that you could delete unwanted pictures right there and then.

    Ian Barton on StarLink

All now set up and rolling with the dish up high. Performing well. I get between 150-200 down and about 30 up. No outages to speak of. You have to pay Starlink £500 for the dish, cable, mini tripod stand for mounting it on the ground, 110ft of power-over-ethernet cable and a router. Includes shipping from the USA. You have to pay upfront and wait until Starlink has a slot in its queue. (This makes sure that the system isn't overloaded with more users than capacity and that Starlink is available in your location.)

The monthly fee is £80, but there is no data cap. The Starlink app scans your field of view and tells you where it's obstructed. You plug in one end of the ethernet cable to the dish and the other end into the dish.

It supplies power to the dish from the provided router. Then plug your network cable into the second port of the supplied router. You use the Starlink app on your phone to log on and enable the dish. Once it's set up you don't have to use the supplied router, you can plug the dish cable into your own router.

Jeremy Harpham on Retro collectors are uncovering hoards of old data

More and more people are collecting vintage computers. And they’re getting more than they bargained for..! Example: One collector acquired a Macintosh SE that previously belonged to a Wyoming dermatologist and contained patient details and treatment notes. And you can imagine the porn, when people actually had to save pictures instead of surfing..! The mind boggles..!

Adrian Brain on Amazon Prime benefits for Gamers

I only found out about this by accident. If you have an AP account, each month you can grab a swag load of game stuff - including some very decent games & add-ons. Head over to https://gaming.amazon.com/home sign in with your Amazon account & grab that swag. You may need to link your id to your Steam, Epic, Origin etc accounts but that's easy-peasy.

Pip Tomlinson on Belkin 3 in 1 charger for iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch

I bought this a few weeks ago and I’ve been very impressed with it. It charges all three devices at the same time and uses Apple’s MagSafe connection to hold the Apple Watch and iPhone in place. It’s available in black and white and does a great job at sitting on my nightstand, looking good and charging all three devices overnight. It’s a tad pricey at its retail price of £150 but is generally available on offer between £120-£130.

    Chris Clayton on GTA Trilogy

“Pricing already confirmed at $60. So maybe £50? I’ll easily get 50 hours out of these three games so I’m ok with that. PS5 and Xbox are 4k60fps. No word on switch yet. I hope they can hit 1080 60fps. If it’s capped at 30 I may have to rethink”

    Steve Heinrich on Format Factory

I recently came across the free Format Factory software when looking to join some video files. I've found that it offers a ton of tools for converting, manipulating, and processing all sorts of files: video, audio, image, and documents etc. Plus there's some other useful tools in there. Very handy and easy to use. I'm starting to prefer it to Handbrake for basic video conversions. It's worth looking through everything you can do in one piece of software. Beware when installing: there are some checkbox screens offering up additional software that can be unchecked to avoid.
