Oh, what a sad end is this. Then, Peggy does pro bono work while Betty gets mad as hell and won't take it anymore on Mad Men, as we talk about "A Night to Remember."

It's symbolism wrapped in symbolism this week, as Mad Men stacks the metaphors deep in "The Gold Violin." Prior to that, we sigh our way through three more Enterprise episodes -- "Fortunate Son," "Cold Front," and "Silent Enemy" -- and wait patiently for this show to get its bearings. Should be any time now.

The arrival of J.'s new baby daughter kind of twisted the ankle of the podcast, leaving us with episodes recorded but no one to edit them. But never fear, the show returns with a vengeance! And speaking of vengeance, we're wrapping up the mystery of just who murdered Ed Begley, Jr., in a trio of Veronica Mars episodes that represent the last gasp of the series: "Postgame Mortem," "Mars, Bars," and "Papa's Cabin." We discuss the multi-episode murder mystery wrapped inside a multi-episode murder mystery on offer and contemplate the show's sad death rattle. (Of course, there are still five more episodes of Veronica Mars to go before anyone notices the show isn't breathing, but that's a discussion for another time.) Elsewhere, we spend "Three Sundays" with Mad Men.

Sometimes it has to be done. We don't like doing it, but these three Enterprise episodes -- "Strange New World," "Unexpected," and "Terra Nova" -- make us question whether the show's prolific showrunner, Brannon Braga, even understands basic writing concepts. As devoid of original thought as three episodes are, it's not hard to see why we're having doubts. Elsewhere, we talk about Mad Men, as Don Draper tries to make peace with an insult comic and his target in "The Benefactor." Don's approach is, shall we say, unique.

There's a big hole in the middle of this episode, as a computer crash wiped out most of our talk on ABC's 500 Questions and the beginning of talking about Community's "Wedding Videography." But we've got all of the feature attraction: we start our run through Enterprise, with the pilot episode, "Broken Bow," and the first standalone "Fight or Flight." We promise to be as nice as we can for as long as we can. It's not long. Then, we start the second season of Mad Men with "For Those Who Think Young."
