The Thought Police episodes

  • S1 Ep35: The Hangover
Mike and Matt reflect on their changeable drinking habits over the years as they discuss the best ways to give up alcohol; as far as Kelly is concerned, it's all down to the right beer. MG hazily remembers some drunken Fleet Street nights and offending some Germans while Matt harps on about a hotel stay which very nearly wasn't. It's a boozy, woozy, doozy of an episode of the Thought Police.

  • S1 Ep34: Perception vs. reality

  • S1 Ep33: Personal issues
This episode was due to be a delve into the Thought Police mailbag (and loosely ends up that way) but actually starts out with Matt and Mike lamenting their recent #firstworldproblems including a frustrating family drama, the incompetence of car deliveries, unexpected perils of the countryside and those journalists with a ridiculous reticence to cover simple stories. It's more mixed bag than mail bag this time around!

  • S1 Ep32: Deal or No Deal?
With Brexit supposedly only a few days away, it's the final battle between the Remainer (Matt Kelly) and the Leaver (Mike Graham). What starts out as a critical analysis of the latest Queen's Speech (and develops into a debate about whether Brexit really means Brexit) ends with more uncertainty than ever before. Divisive, polarising and full of outrageous opinion. And that's just The Thought Police...

  • S1 Ep30: Clucking hell - what's going to happen post-Brexit?
Matt and Mike speculate about the future for the UK after Brexit on this episode of the Thought Police as they disagree fundamentally about whether the United Kingdom or the European Union is more important for the other. They also dispute the potentially unwelcome countries that may be welcomed in, the future for the Eurozone and the potential impact of eating American chicken.

  • S1 Ep29: What is the future of news consumption?
A timely email to [email protected] prompts a fascinating discussion into national, local and online journalism on this episode of the Thought Police.

What does the future hold? How have the early days of online affected the current state of play? Can subscription models really work? Mike and Matt discuss...

  • S1 Ep28: Making judgements
It's a very feisty edition of the Thought Police as Matt Kelly and Mike Graham dispute whether the decisions in Westminster are being taken through righteousness and impartiality or personal politics and vendettas. They also discuss use of language, how news stories miss out the crucial details and the possibility of Boris Johnson being put behind bars. It's The Thought Police and it's all kicking off...

About The Thought Police

From the publisher's feed

It’s not 1984 anymore but it sure feels like it. The Thought Police returns for a third series. After working with previous partners Kevin O’Sullivan and Matt Kelly for the past few years Mike Graham has got a new co-host. He is the highly entertaining American comedian Lewis Schaffer whose wry observations on life have to be heard to be believed. We’ve got culture, we’ve got politics and we might even make you laugh in these troubled times.
