The Tie Podcast

2024 has to be one of the better major seasons I can recall in sometime. All the events had their own texture and way of playing out, but the consistent piece (save for Valhalla), was great golf courses, and the game's best players being the key parts of the storyline at each of the 4 biggest events.

Xander has spoken, Dechambeau is for real, what do we make of Scottie Scheffler's major year, is Tiger purely ceremonial at this point? These are some of the questions that we have answers to after this major season and also ones that remain outstanding going into next year.

Stay with us the whole way for all the details of what we make of this season's 4 biggest events!

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

At varying levels, Walker and Henry have some updates to share on what they have been and will be up to this summer. Walker is in Traverse City for the summer working towards a new path with our friend and coworker Trey Wren, and Henry is continuing to play as much good golf as possible and juggle a number of balls.

We are also joined today by Trey Wren to discuss what he has been up to at High Pointe, what he and Walker have coming up in the next few months as well as beyond, and more.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

Well, Xander is a total dog. No ifs ands or buts about that at this point. The final round, the way he closed down the stretch, any ongoing questions we had about the X man have been answered.

Xander, a little Tiger, the golf course, what the golf world would look like if we played more links golf, and all sorts of random tidbits and standard mud ball monday musings.

We appreciate the support as always and look forward to the somewhat less pro golf heavy rest of the year now that the majors are done and dusted.

Paddy Lynch is here from @paddytalksgolf to run us through all things golf in Ireland and how to go about planning for a trip. Whether it is food, beverage, logistics of getting around the country, where to play, where not to play, and what to pack. It's all in here.

Paddy and Henry kick off the episode with a run down of Henry's packing list before jumping into the DERT and then a full itinerary of where to play and how to go about each day.

Lots of great general Irish golf info as well as specifics on a number of the big name courses. I think you all will really enjoy this one!

We've made it! It's become bittersweet to reach the Open as it is now the year's final major, but there is hardly a better golf week of the year than this one.

Early morning wake ups, coffee in hand, wind blowing, gorse taking souls. Whatever your favorite part of the open is, there is much to love.

Today, we have each selected 3 players + a dark horse that we think should be monitored this week at Troon. We agreed that the top 5 players on the odds sheet are off limits, but beyond that anyone is fair game to discuss. Happy Open Championship week!

Once again we are joined by Sam of Cookie Jar Golf to preview the 2024 Open Championship!

Henry and Sam run through a typical menu of banter, DERT, some picks for the week, coverage on Troon's history as an Open Championship venue as well as a club in general, and some talk about Southwest Scottish golf in a general sense.

It's been a wonderful major season and the season's final major trusts to be much of the same. Stick with us next week for more coverage of Troon!

The Open Championship is upon us and to start to get the engines firing for the final major of the year, we are here to run through the entire list of courses that are still a part of the ROTA and evaluate the ranking of them.

There are currently 9 courses in the open rota that Walker and Henry will each run through 9 to 1 and also throw in 1 course they each think would make for a compelling addition to the current list of courses.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

Parker McLachlin, better known as @shortgamechef is here to talk about his coaching in the short game world and how everyone can improve their pitching and most importantly raise their floor.

Everyone wants to be able to hit incredible nippers and do "magical" things with their wedges, but we really should strive for is a short game that rarely fails us. Parker's coaching is tailored to help average players as well as stars create an "insurance policy" with their wedges that holds up under pressure and with less than stellar conditions.

Tune in to learn how you can improve your wedge skills.

Private or commercial, with an entourage or all alone, everyone in the professional golf world has to spend a lot of time getting from one event to the next. So naturally, we have decided to speculate on what a number of pro golfers do to spend their time in the air.

Eating, Drinking, who's with them, what might their plane look like, what are post tournament reflections, pre tournament preparations, recovery protocols, you name it, we're talking about it here on #mudballmonday.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

In this episode, you can expect:

- What types of golfers do each method.

- What should you do?
