The Tie Podcast

We are back for Tie Course Reviews, this time keeping things more down the middle with an discussion on golf courses with great par 3's, par 4's, and par 5's.

The most important piece of this conversation will be not just what the course is and what the sets of pars look like, but most importantly why they satisfy the things we each look for in great sets of par 3's, 4's, and 5's.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

Thanks for the support as always!

What a week from Pinehurst. The golf course, the tournament, the weather, it all came out beautifully. You have to think the USGA is very pleased with round 1 from the first anchor site they have announced for their most important championship.

Today we are breaking it all down. What we learned, saw, heard, and will take into the rest of the season from Pinehurst!

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

Andrew Novak joins Walker to talk about his path to the PGA Tour as an undervalued high school late bloomer. The path through an extended Korn Ferry Tour season riddled with COVID was only just the beginning, but progress has been steady.

As always, we find out what he’s been Drinking, Eating, Reading, and Thinking, plus some discussion around life on the PGA Tour, favorite venues, and how he views progress in a career of thin margins.

Andrew has a podcast with former teammate Evan Grenus called The ScreenPlay Podcast

They go deep on NFL fantasy, bets, & picks- every Wednesday. Link to his show down below!

You know the drill by now, we're doing our what ifs for this year's US Open at Pinehurst. If the year's first 2 majors and Pinehurst's history as a host site are any indicator, we are in for another great week.

Of course, no great major week can start out with our what ifs, so tune in to hear about the serious, important, not so serious, and not so important!

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

This week we have Brandon Wu AND Isaiah Salinda back at The Tie Podcast to preview the US Open at Pinehurst with us!

Brandon recently qualified in Dallas for what will be his 3rd US Open. Isaiah made it out of the Maryland Qualifier for what will be his second US Open after making it to The Country Club in 2022.

Both of these guys competed in the 2019 US Amateur at Pinehurst so they will have working knowledge of both what it takes to compete at Pinehurst as well as the US Open more broadly!

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

We are 2 majors into the season with 2 more to be played, and today on #mudballmonday, we are going to discuss the things we have learned from the year's first 2 majors that we can look out for in the second two.

Some of the highlights of the conversation are:

- The role of ball striking in today's game in general and in particular at the majors.

- Architecture vs. conditioning to create difficult golf.

- Why the best players separate more at the biggest events.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

Pinehurst No. 2. A course we have a lot of passion for here at the tie. As two North Carolinians, it is objectively the best golf course in our home state, but it goes deeper than that. Not only is that the case, the deuce is also such a wonderful and important golf course in so many ways.

Today we are talking about what we have learned from No. 2 about architecture more broadly as well as why we expect it to be such a great US Open venue for 2024 as well as the many years to come that they have the event.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.

Golf Channel on course analyst and 2023 NCAA Champion Emilia Migliaccio joins us live from Omni La Costa resort ahead of calling the Women's final to talk about the golf course and what we can expect for the men next week.

Emilia not only has competed in the NCAA finals twice herself, she now calls golf on PGATour live, as well as the Korn Ferry Tour, at USGA events, and more.

There aren't many better voices to hear from to talk NCAA Golf than Emilia so we hope you all enjoy this conversation!

What a week at Valhalla! Was it the best golf course? Maybe not, but it was a heck of a tournament and the golf course identified a great crop of players that provided us an awesome sunday.

Today we're breaking down the week at Valhalla and our reactions to the course, the players, and everything in between.

Hope you all enjoy this conversation.
