Instead of diving into the darkness like we usually do in this podcast, I want to reach up into the light. Instead of exploring the mysterious, I want to talk about the only thing that I KNOW to be true.
Death is not the end...
It is a new beginning.

Every culture has a legend about werewolves. The Greeks have King Lycaon. The Romans have Moeris. The Norse have Sigmund and Sinfjotli. The list goes on and on. Loup-garous, vukodlaks, skin-walkers, Lobizons, Kurtadams, and the Beasts of Bray Road have been terrorizing humans for centuries.
The State of Michigan is home to one of these fearsome beasts. Is it a flesh-and-blood animal brought into the open by deforestation? Is it a partially-psychic phenomenon like Bigfoot or the Mothman? Is it the king of the Anishinaabe underworld, visiting our realm to feed? Is it an ultraterrestrial being who normally resides in the dimensions next to ours, but can be seen by us when the veil is thin?
In the case of the Michigan Dogman, the answer to all these questions might be "Yes".

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth".
There are 4.8 billion people alive that believe this to be an accurate description of how our world came to be. In the 1920's, there was a man living in Detroit who believed that the true creation story was VERY different than the one were given in the Book of Genesis. So, he wrote his own. Soon, hundreds were coming to him for religious teaching, magic rituals, curses, hexes, and love potions.
He was living the American dream, until one day in 1929 when someone broke into his home and murdered everyone inside with an axe.
Someone who has never been caught.
This is the story of the Benny Evangelist Family Massacre.

The Western coast of Michigan has several idyllic and prosperous towns that are surrounded by thousands of acres of dark and foreboding woods. In those woods, there are beings hiding behind the trees, waiting for hikers or travelers to come across their path. Beings with enormous heads, emaciated limbs, and razor sharp teeth.
Were these beings sufferers of a horrific disease, brought to the area to be experimented on by a mad doctor? Or, were they brought to the area from somewhere... else?
This is the story of the Michigan Melon Heads.

In the year 985 C.E., a group of Viking settlers led by Erik the Red settled on the frozen tundra of Greenland. Against all odds, they thrived there for almost 500 years. Then, they disappeared without a trace and without warning.
Did they starve after the onset of the Little Ice Age? Were they wiped out by their neighbors to the North, the Thule Inuit? Did they cut off all communication, move deep into a frozen fjord, and continue to live out their lives there like a Norse version of "The Village"?
Or, did they venture too far North, finding themselves lost in the realm of Niflheim? While there, did they stumble across the bubbling and roaring whirlpool Hvergelmir, and get sucked down into Hel?
This is the story of the disappearance of the Norse Greenlanders, a mystery on par with the lost colony of Roanoke, and how one of the world's most famous cartographers and geographers might have proven that Norse mythology is real.

One was a demonologist.
The other was a trance medium.
But were either of them what they claimed to be?
Before we dig into one of Rhode Island’s most famous paranormal cases, it’s important to understand the Warrens and the role they played in the creation of the narrative surrounding the case.
