  • Homeschooling Still Under Attack
The West Virginia House Health Committee Chairman joined me on the radio today for a legislative update. Delegate Evan Worrell is a homeschooling dad so of course we talk about Homeschool Day at the Capitol and Prolife Day at the Capitol. Worrell also discussed how he partnered with Katana Curry to introduce legislation making changes to the Foster Care Bill of Rights. House Bill 4749 aims to ensure that a child who is 13 or older is informed by their guardian ad litem or legal counsel of any hearing relevant to their case and is asked whether they would like to attend. The bill passed the House of Delegates 96-0 and now heads to the Senate.

I spent a lot of time ranting on that during my morning talk radio program from Total Media Radio. I also spoke with WV Delegate Chris Anders about his resolution on the Epstein Files.

  • Lawmakers Making A Way For Churches To Disaffiliate
Have you ever felt your church is being pulled in a direction you don’t agree with?
In today’s episode, West Virginia Delegate Jim Butler dives into the complex issue of church disaffiliation, especially in the United Methodist Church. Local congregations often face tough choices when their beliefs clash with those of their parent church. How can we protect the rights of these smaller churches?

The Mason County delegate sheds some light on this and other issues being discussed in the legislative session.

  • Make West Virginia Healthy Act
WV Delegate Evan Worrell (R-Cabell) explains the Recharge West Virginia Act, a initiative designed to support small businesses and enhance workforce skills, as well as broader health initiatives that seek to combat chronic diseases in the state.

In addition to economic development, Delegate Worrell, who chairs the House Health Committee, discussed health initiatives aimed at addressing West Virginia's chronic disease crisis. The state holds the unfortunate title of having the highest rates of type 2 diabetes and heart disease in the nation. Worrell's proposed Make West Virginia Healthy Again initiative seeks to restructure existing health offices to enhance collaboration across various departments. This initiative aims to promote nutrition education and encourage farm-to-table practices in schools, leveraging local producers to improve food quality.
