This week we head north, to Bolton, as we cover one of the most heart-breaking cases in recent history.
Emily Jones was a bright, happy, much-loved child. She was innocently enjoying the sunshine with her father when her life was stolen in a moment so brutal, so sudden, and so senseless, that it shook the entire nation to its very core.
But what followed only deepened the outrage. The woman responsible for the attack was a mentally ill foreign national with a long history of violent behaviour and disturbing psychiatric issues. She was known to adult care services, known to the police, known to the entire system. And yet, somehow, she was walking free that day.
This wasn’t just a case of a life taken too soon. It was a case that raised urgent questions — about mental health oversight, immigration, and how we protect the most vulnerable among us. Questions that, for many, still haven’t been answered.
