The True Crime Witch Podcast

The Doe Diaries is a series by The True Crime Witch Podcast that explores all of the John/Jane Doe cases solved in 2019.

On November 10th, 1985 a hunter was making his way through Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire when he came across a burnt down store. Near the store, he found a 55-gallon metal drum. Inside the barrel were the remains of a woman and a young girl wrapped in plastic and stuffed inside. Both of the victims had died as a result of blunt force trauma.

It wasn’t until May 9th, 2000 that a second set of Jane Does would be found near the original discovery site of the Bear Brook Jane Does. This was also another 55-gallon metal drum with the bodies of two children inside. Their cause of death was also blunt force trauma.
Episode 1 will explore the search for answers as to the identities of the Bear Brook Jane Does and the fight for justice in their case.

Many people associate Manchester with Oasis, Stone Roses, Manchester City and Manchester United. When people think about crime in Manchester, most think about Dr. Harold Shipman who had over 250 victims or the Moors Murderers who committed some of the most vile acts in UK history. However, there is another serial killer that has devastated the lives of 3 families and changed the face of communities forever, Trevor Hardy.

What's up spooky gang, I'm currently in the process of working on two 2019 case round up episodes for you all. So in the meantime, please enjoy this creepypasta reading and an end of years message from yours truly.

I hope everyone in the spooky gang has a lovely and safe new year, remember to watch your drinks, stick with your mates and don't wander off with strangers!

February 1st 1968 started out like any other for two fishermen at Alton Lake, St Charles County, Missouri. The pair spotted a black suitcase that was floating about 12 feet from the bank, which is located near the south end of the Lewis and Clarke Bridge, just of US Highway 67. They probably thought they might find some hidden gems or merely some rubbish that someone had wanted to dispose of. What they found, was not a hidden gem nor rubbish, it was the body of a toddler who would come to be known the West Alton Jane Doe.

The mystery would span over 51 years without so much as a clue as to the identity of The West Alton Jane Doe or her killer. As the unsolved case continues into its 52nd year, will 2020 finally bring investigators and the local community the answers it has been praying for over half a century?

This week's episode takes us back to Halloween, 1979 in Georgetown, Texas. Halloween is usually a day filled with mischief and magic however for The Orange Socks Jane Doe, the day would be marred with tragedy and a mystery that spanned over 40 years.

Orange socks was discovered on October 31st 1979 in a drainage ditch just off Interstate 35 in Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas. Her cause of death was strangulation and she had extensive bruising on her neck and body. The other bruising came from the fact that she had been thrown from an overpass and dragged through a grassy area. She was also completely naked apart from a pair of orange socks which lead to her being known as ‘The Orange Socks Jane Doe.’

Tommy Lynn Sells was charged with murder, rape and attempted murder for crimes that he committed in 1999, however, he has confessed to being responsible for over 70 murders, a claim which has never been confirmed. His official victim count stands at 22, making him an extremely dangerous serial killer. Could this Oakland, California born serial killer be one of the most prolific of all time?

In September 1996, police were called out to a foul odour and a pool of blood coming from a Hollywood, Florida apartment. What they found inside was the body of Ricardo Lopez, surrounded by 11 hours of footage, an 803 page diary and scribblings on the wall, all dedicated to the Icelandic singer Bjork. Lopez had mailed out a letter bomb containing sulfuric acid to the singers London home and soon the Police were in a race against time to save the singer and her management.

Stay safe, stay spooky kids.

Racine County, situated in South Eastern Wisconsin with a population of around 195,000 as of 2010 and around 185,000 in 1999. With a dense suburban feel and most people owning their own property, the county had a small and homely feel. The small town of Raymond, Racine County had a tiny population of just 3,516 in the year 2000, adding to the sense of safety and security for its residents. The illusion of the small town safety was shattered on July 21st 1999 with a horrific discovery that would haunt the Racine County Police Department for over 20 years.

At around 06:15am on July 21st 1999 a man was walking with his dog along 92nd Street which is situated along 6 Mile Road and 7 Mile Road in the small town of Raymond, Wisconsin. In amongst a cornfield he discovered the body of a young woman who had clearly suffered before her passing.

Have you ever forgotten your phone?

When did you realise you’d forgotten it? I’m guessing you didn’t just smack your forehead and exclaim ‘damn’ apropos of nothing. The realisation probably didn’t dawn on you spontaneously.

More likely, you reached for your phone, pawing open your pocket or handbag, and were momentarily confused by it not being there. Then you did a mental restep of the morning’s events.

Shit.

The Cambridge Dictionary defines cannibalism as "A person who eats human flesh or an animal that eats the flesh of its own type." Cannibalism is the final frontier of human taboos, not only does cannibalism involve murder but the idea of eating human flesh is too much for some people to stomach.

Episode 11 delves into the world of cannibalism and it's many many crimes. Come with me as I explore the different areas of cannibalism as well as examining 3 true crime cases. WARNING. This episode contains crimes against children, it won't be suitable for everyone. If you are faint of heart or have a weak stomach, click away now.
