Episode 44: Dear Abby {The Advice Column In A Twisted Way}
In Episode 44, Allie and Sam turn into 'Dear Abby'. Dear Abby was an American Advice column founded in 1956 by Pauline Phillips under the pen name "Abigail Van Buren" and now carried on today by her daughter, Jeanne Philips.
Sam picked out some articles...then Allie and her put their own twist on how they would handle the situation if they were in their shoes!
But, at the end of the day... it is just their advice. We all know most of the time we all know the answers deep down, it's just a matter of venting and being heard.
Do you have a 'Dear Abby' question answered? -- feel free to email us your submissions at Hello@TheTwistedSistersPodcast. Names will always be anonymous but know we are here for you!
We are Family! I got all my sisters with me.... as Sister Sledge sings.

We discuss work, kids and the new shows that have us hooked. As we all know we have to stay busy somehow during these cold months.
Lot's of questions regarding Samantha's solo podcast and so much outpouring of love and support.. So we talk about the questions that were asked and she shares the things she is doing currently to get out of the the sadness she had been experiencing. She is doing MUCH better!
We love getting to share our lives with you and pass on all the amazing information we are constantly learning.
Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs. The ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.
We truly Love this Twisted Family our Podcast has created for us and our listeners.
One LOVE!
Stay Twisted!.
Episode 41
Samantha does a solo-podcast on "The Cold Hard Truth" about how she is really doing in life.
I'm not going to lie. I didn't know if I was even going to be able to have the energy to do this. I have been struggling with myself. I have NOT been in a good place emotionally for variable reasons. These last few months have left me in a place where I don't even seem to recognize myself. But I vowed to always be as transparent with all of you as I can be.
I talk about my life as it stands. I get real about how my EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) appointments for my PTSD (Post-traumatic-Stress-Disorder) are going, what they consist of and if I feel like they are actually helping. I discuss my perspective about SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and the questions I have that surround the subject.
Am I going backwards in life? Or is this like a slingshot where I am being pulled back in preparation to be shot forward with great momentum?
Am I psychoanalyzing too much?
How did I let this happen? Or is this just part of the process?
SO Many questions. Do I have all the answers?? Absolutely NOT!
Is this the most eloquent podcast I've ever done? NOPE!
But it's REAL and it's my truth right here and right now.
My hope with sharing the "Cold Hard Truth" about the dark place I have been in can help just one person know that you are NOT ALONE!
Thank you for listening. I wish I had a beautiful quote of encouragement and support to leave you with. But the truth is my mind, body and soul is just a little tired at the moment. So I leave you with our tag line.
Stay Twisted my Beautiful Friends.
Welcome to The Twisted Sisters! Today, Allie is going to share with you a very powerful tool you can use to make 2023 the best year of your life. It’s the very thing that helped her create massive momentum in her life and business - Theming Your Days!
Allie first heard about the concept of theming your days in an interview Forbes did with Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former CEO of Twitter and Square. Obviously, he’s a pretty busy guy, but he still manages to find time in his days for innovation. Allie wondered how he could make time for creativity and exploration while running two massive companies! Which… she does understand he has a TON of help.. so how does this help the one person show? How could this help her? How does this relate to normal, average people?
In the interview, Dorsey explained that he uses a special productivity technique to maximize his output and make time for things that matter. The technique? Give each day of the week its own “theme.” Tasks related to that theme automatically get sorted onto the to-do list for that day. This streamlines your productivity by organizing even those tasks that don’t fall on a specific day or time and eliminates the time you might have spent waffling over what to do next.
You see, theming your days can help you harness energy, focus, and carry your momentum forward through the rest of your week. Allie breaks it down for you and helps you understand that it doesn't have to be complicated. Whether you work from home, work outside the home, are a stay at home parent, or run businesses... this episode is for you!
IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN:
- What is day theming?
- How to theme your days to make them more enjoyable and productive.
- Why theming your days is so powerful.
- Identifying your themes for success.
- How to schedule your themed days into your calendar.
Episode 40 is a Must Listen!
Introducing Dede (Dana) Pagitt and Mia Dorr!
Two Best Friends navigating life, friendship and a successful business together. These two are absolutely beautiful inside and out. They share how they met, maintaining their friendship while navigating business and the new/exciting events and shows they are currently working on.
Mia Dorr is an energetic and passionate performer with an unparalleled diversity. Mia balances her powerhouse vocals with her whispers, allowing her to bring out the story of every song and draw in the audience with her dynamic performance and stage presence. Mia has been a singer in the Twin Cities music scene for over 20 years. She performs several times a week. She began performing for LGBTQ folks at the Over the Rainbow Bar in Downtown St. Paul in 1997. Since then, she and her team at Premier Entertainment have appeared regularly at a number of local venues in the Twin Cities. “Twenty years ago, I was a singer, and then the LGBTQ community welcomed me with open arms. That changed my life, and now I am an entertainer. These years have taught me how a chosen family comes together to support each other and rally together during times of adversity. I feel very fortunate to be able to perform as often as we do, and it’s because of the people who spend their time at our shows, some on a weekly basis, and some once a month or so, who give us the opportunity to entertain and do what we love the most. The past 20+ years have been the blessing of my life, and I get weepy just thinking about it".
DeDe "Dana" Pagitt, who is Mia's show producer and manager takes song requests during the Mia Dorr Show and banters with the audience. “The music at our shows is reflective of people who are in the audience. Mia was once referred to as ‘a passionate and energetic performer with a repertoire of unparalleled diversity.’ I love this description, because it describes her so succinctly. Our favorite music is what moves audience members, either physically in their chairs or in the memories in their minds, or stirs them in their souls. Those are the best ones!”.
We had an absolute BLAST getting to laugh and talk about real life with these two. Dede shares amazing wisdom and advice that she uses daily for her own personal growth. Her outlook and humor will have you on the edge of your seat wanting more while laughing and realizing not to take life so seriously. The love and support these two best friends and entrepreneurs show each other is powerful. They remind us that communication is key in every relationship first, it's never too late to start over however that looks for you and to follow your dreams no matter what.
