The David Spisak Show

The Unpopular Truth About Achieving Your Goals

Listen Later

Even though the topic of setting and achieving goals is something that we all can discuss at nauseam, David shares a different spin on how you can have a life that is 100% better than you ever thought possible. More importantly, David demystifies the seemingly unknown or perhaps unpopular truth that could be the difference between you struggling perpetually or finally going big.

What David Spisak Shares In This Episode:
  • We often forget that the 'x factor' in achieving goals is us! We are the secret ingredient. We are the thing that ultimately dictates where we go or where we end up. It's important to understand that you are the differentiator before getting further into this episode.
  • There are so many distractions out there that are designed to keep us from becoming who we are meant to be. While some distractions might be good at the moment, it's up to us to define what will bring us true fulfillment in life.
  • There are some people streaming four to five hours a day. There are people that are playing games for three to four hours per day. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter which it is it's screen time, screen, time, or screen time. And all of that screen time is fully intended while yes, to entertain you. But most importantly to distract you.
  • There are so many people out there instead of continuing to move forward on the path to get them where they want to go. At some point they divert, at some point, they turn around, or at some point, they just stop.
  • Most people are asleep at the wheel in their lives. They are being acted upon rather than doing the acting. Taking action is a critical piece of the puzzle that so few choose to accept.
  • If you've seen the statistics as of late, nearly all of that disposable time has been getting eaten up by some form of screen time, laptops, screens, television screens, or phones. They say that the typical human being these days is on their phone for five hours a day.
  • When you set a goal and you write it down, you're in an elite company, right? From the jump. Only about 3% of the people in this world set a goal and write it down.
  • The challenge is even if we set the goal, even if we write it down and we compare ourselves because we're focusing just on the goal, here's what happens. It forces our subconscious mind to measure the commitment between our current reality and our vision. And there's something called cognitive dissidence that occurs.
