A sheriff's officer has accused former governor Andrew Cuomo of groping a woman in an investigation stemming from the scandal that drove him to resign earlier this year. And the U.S Justice Department is in talks to pay hundreds of thousands of to each child and parent who was separated under a Trump-era practice of splitting families at the border. The Wall Street Journal first reported that the government was considering payments around $450,000 to each person affected. 💵👨‍👩‍👦🇺🇲

On #TheUpdate this Thursday, New York Attorney General Letitia James, the woman who helped push former governor Andrew Cuomo to resign with her bombshell report, is planning to take his old job. She'll be entering the race as a formidable candidate for the Democratic nomination that features current governor Kathy Hochul, who's seeking a full term in office.

The former bursar of the City College of New York has been charged with stealing $500,000 in student checks and spending the money on vacations and luxury goods. Fifty-eight-year-old Joseph Boselli was charged Tuesday with felony counts including grand larceny for allegedly stealing 900 checks that were issued to 700 current or former students. And in western Louisiana, a tornado has damaged more than a dozen homes in a part of the state still struggling to recover from repeated weather disasters. Several other homes received minor damage. 🏡🌪️

The toddler's 23-year-old mother was removing packages from the rear of a Nissan Rogue when the child wandered in front of the vehicle. And in a new poll by the Associated Press, the Center For Public Affairs Research, and the the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago, a majority of Americans regard the deteriorating climate as a problem of high importance to them.

A family of them has been building dams near a small Hudson Valley town of Mechanicville that's imprading the flow of water into the small reservoir the town depends on. The beavers can build a dam in as little as two nights that can slow water flow and create algae on the reservoir. Police in Suffolk County on Long Island need your help solving a murder mystery. They're investigating the death of a woman found fatally stabbed outside of her home in Coram. And a camera operator has told authorities that Alec Baldwin had been careful with the weapons on the set of the film "Rust" before the actor fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a gun he'd been told was safe to use, according to new records released Sunday.
