It was really sad to see how Senators Rand Paul and Thom Tillis got softball interviews on #morningjoe. I am all for hearing diverse voices and perspectives, but I am more interested in holding people accountable and none of that occurred in these interviews. The American people deserve better than what they got today and last week with these interviews.

I find it frustrating to hear people call what's happening in Gaza anything but a genocide. My response and your response to them should be: "So what?" "Now what?" While there are supposed to be real consequences for the enacting of a genocide, there can be other consequences for those engaging in mass atrocities, ethnic cleansing, and more. Many people who say that what is happening in Gaza is not a genocide, rarely offer any solutions to stop what is actually happening there now and engage in other forms of whataboutism about other atrocities in the world, past and present. It's problematic and it needs to be called out if you believe in universal human rights. What do you think?

I get that there are differing opinions on the #tuskegee dress code decision but the main notion of Black bodies being policed with this decision and respectability politics just doesn't apply in this case. If people can spend 5 hours getting ready and going to and back from concerts, they can put on regular close to go to a 75 minute class. I don't think the code is necessary for the cafeteria but college is about preparing students for the world they are about to inherit and in this world, presentation and first impressions matter. What do you think?

I respect that people have differing opinions about Tuskegee's dress code. The part I cannot accept is the idea that dressing down is a Black cultural thing and having Black students dress up is some form of respectability politics. Black people have always had professional standards in all aspects of our history because of the respect we have for ourselves, not because we were trying to fit into White spaces. Even if you disagree with dress code, the type of thinking I describe above is backwards.
