I didn't agree with people who said that Jay-Z was a sellout for partnering with the #nfl for reasons I explain in the video. The deal with #target feels different because  @target  has a direct impact in our communities and #jayz could have flexed a little more to make Target bring back its DEI efforts. But, like, I said, he is not the only rapper to let us down in this moment.

The school told me that teachers were still upset that he won. This was back in 2008. The stories they were told about Black people couldn't let them grasp the signficance of his win and pass that on to the students of all backgrounds. We have to break these narratives. Trump's disgraceful interview with Kristen Welker is the latest highlight of how low we have sunk to as a country. If we are going to bring this country back to any form of path to decency, it's going to be up to YOU and up to ME. What are YOU going to do about it? The misogyny. The racism. The xenophobia. The anti-islamic actions. The antisemitism. The homophobia and transphobia. Run down the list. It doesn't matter whether Trump started or just unleashed it, we are here. We need to do the active work to fight back...if we care to.

Seemingly everyday but definitely weekly, I am seeing stories of Black people being lynched. Remember, every hanging is a lynching, but every lynching is not a hanging. This is not being investigated by enough media sources. Trump has given a permission structure for this and his reparations fund proposal is only going to make this worse. This is a real issue right now for our community and it's barely getting attention. We have to join others who have been sounding this alarm.

It’s weird seeing Black men get singled out for things that everyone else does. I have no problem with focusing attention on challenges to our community that are mainly on Black men to handle, particularly related to violence in our communities, but I’m increasingly seeing us get singled out for things that people from every group do, including Black women. What’s up with that?
