So this week I want to talk about rain. We tend to think of rain as a downer, literally the sky pours down on us, and we understandable can feel discouraged or depressed. But like the Luke Bryan song, I think it’s important to remember that Rain Is A Good Thing. If we can embrace the rain in our lives, we’re not only going to grow into better people but we’ll be a heck of a lot happier.

I’m so excited to talk with you. But I gotta admit, I’m not as comfortable with the topic today as I usually am. You know I started this podcast to sort of document my personal journey to a vibrant joyful life and hopefully help others along the way. And each week it’s been amazing as I’ve thought about what I want to share and how to connect with you. I believe that we can be guided in things like that and I’ve felt Heaven close as I’ve prayed to know what messages to send out. This week, I feel a powerful prompting to talk about feeling invisible. This one is hard for me because it’s a real struggle that I have and something that I’m still in the process of conquering. So I hope you can hang in here with me.

I've been thinking a lot about being healthy lately. This last week I had the flu and it's been rough. Nothing reminds you how wonderful it is to be healthy like recovering from being sick. I've also been dealing with some other health issues that I won't go into, except I want to let you know that I personally know the value of good health and how much it affects us in all areas of our lives. So this week we're diving into this truth: the first wealth is health.

What I'm really interested in, however, is the meaning behind the word abracadabra. We don't know the exact etymology for sure but I'm fascinated by two origin theories. Some scholars think it comes from an Aramaic phrase avra kehdabra, meaning “I will create as I speak”. Others think it's from the Chaldean abbada ke dabra, meaning “perish like the word”. That's right, my friends. I know it took a minute to get here but today we are literally discussing the magic and power in words. This is something that I personally am very passionate about.

Interview with April Moody:
I met April Moody when her family moved into the house next door to us and I was around 13. That's a pretty awkward age for most people, but she always made me feel loved and seen. April has been a friend and mentor to me ever since.
Quote from the show:
Heartache, sadness or disappointment doesn't have to cancel out happiness and joy and optimism... It doesn't mean we're faking it through life. If we're being happy in heartache.

the ABCDE Model is great for when you find yourself being overtaken by your emotions. I use it when I have a panic attack, or when I'm feeling particularly stressed out and my mind is going crazy. Which I'll admit happens more than I'd like. But it happens less and with less intensity since I've been putting in serious effort and work on being more mindful.
This is a mindfulness technique that lets you examine your thoughts and how your thinking is affecting you. I like it because you can count the steps right on your hand and it is also a grounding technique that helps give you a sense of control. It only takes a few minutes to go through all the steps.

Have you ever heard an old song that you love and it transports you right back into the past and into a special moment that might have happened while that song was playing? Well, today we're taking a look at the past, specifically our mindset and emotions about the past. I might be one of the most nostalgic people ever. Sometimes I might be a little too sentimental and I'm working on that. Some people don't necessarily think of nostalgia as a good thing. But today, I'm making a case for why you should Be Nostalgic.

As I was thinking about my dad and what I wanted to share with y'all this week, I thought there couldn't be a better topic than The Joy Of Service. This is perhaps the biggest lesson I've learned from my dad, and I've learned it from his example. Not only, did I learn from my father's example though. It's been a pattern coming down the line going several generations in our family. I don't say this to brag. Our family is far from perfect. But I do feel so blessed by the legacy of faith and service that has come before me. I want to share a few personal stories with you.

For better or worse, puns & cheesy jokes play a major part in my personality. So using a ketchup bottle to promote the subject of Keep Up vs. Catch up is very ME. A ketchup bottle is an apt metaphor to kick things off for us today.

Alrighty, we're getting down and dirty with our topic today which is Bloom Where You're Planted. This phrase has become pretty popular over the last several years, and I love it. I love plants. I love their beauty and variety. And I love the way they brighten up a place. You could even say they make things vibrant.
