  • Episode 14 - Ron Flockhart + Friends (September 1, 2020)

September has arrived and this week's episode of The Voice & The Coach is a doozy. This week Dan O'Connor and Mark Holick are joined by former NHLer Ron Flockhart who played parts of nine seasons in the NHL (1980 - 1989), before beginning a coaching career that spanned six seasons. In 1993-94, Flockhart coached Mark in his final season of pro hockey in the CHL with the Dallas Freeze.

Halfway into the show, a few additional former players of the Ron Flockhart-led 1993-94 Dallas Freeze (Wayne Anchikoski and Joey Mittelsteadt) join the conversation to share a few laughs and memories.

If you watched the NHL in the 1980's, or even if you didn't, you'll love this conversation. Ron speaks candidly and passionately about his playing career and addresses a number of hot button topics including:

    - The Broad St. Bullies of Philadelphia. Did they get too much leash and hold back some of the younger up-and-comers towards the end of their tenure in the NHL?
    - His 12-game cameo with Mario Lemieux during his rookie season in Pittsburgh.
    - The Montreal/Quebec rivalry from the mid-80's.
    - Much more!
